SDA SRS serial numbers

I've had these speakers for a week now, and have just got around to checking out the serial numbers, and was a little surprised to see that they are a 1000 numbers apart. Is that unusual? Also, after checking out the SRS mods link, it says these early SRS's(Dec.,'85 on the receipt) in mint condition, are somewhat rare. That's kind of cool. They've put all my other speakers to shame. Nora Jones never sounded so good. I'm rebuilding the amps right now, so can't afford to start upgrading yet, but was wondering if there's some little tweaking I can do now. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Back then Polk didn't sell them with sequential serial numbers, but a difference of 1000 is a bit far apart. Also, after checking out the SRS mods link, it says these early SRS's(Dec.,'85 on the receipt) in mint condition, are somewhat rare.
Not really rare, Polk sold thousands of them.Political Correctness'.........defined

No, it's not unusual for the earlier model SDAs.
My SRSs are 542 numbers apart.
My 1.2TLs are 20 numbers apart.
One pair of CRS+s is 30 numbers apart and another pair is 70 numbers apart.Proud and loyal citizen of the Digital Domain and Solid State Country! -
To help shed more light on the subject. When I worked at an audio store in the late 80's we sold Polk among other brands. Since they were sold separately they got scattered, buried, etc in our tiny warehouse and for us it was a matter of grabbing which ever speakers were easy to get to, especially on a busy day. I could see a single speaker or two getting buried for months before someone grabbing it with perhaps a newer shipment of stock. We didn't really "rotate" stock on a regular basis.
Also we were receiving product from a main warehouse and from other stores, so factor the same situation above at those places as well as where our entire 4 store chain gets the product from. You can see how some stray singles could have earlier/later serial numbers. Plus I don't think Polk used sequential numbers way back then.
H9"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Differentiation by numbers is for those who do not".--Nelson Pass Pass Labs XA25 | EE Avant Pre | EE Mini Max Supreme DAC | MIT Shotgun S1 | Pangea AC14SE MKII | Legend L600 | BlueSound Node 3 - Tubes add soul! -
