Monitor 10 Midrange/Bass

I've owned a pair of Monitor 10s for about 15 years. They were in storage for the last 5 years due to lack of space. Now relocated in a new home, I looked forward to using them again.

They are used for stereo music only, powered from a Carver M400 cube amp. The problem is one speaker has no low end and a thin (low volume) midrange. The problem stays with the same speaker if I switch channels.

I am looking into the cross over circuit for bad components. Any other ideas?

Sounds like a bad driver, crossovers don't often fail. Try swapping the mid-drivers, with the other speaker, and see if the problem follows the actual speakers.

If it does, then get on the waiting list for drivers thru customer service/parts. I am not sure exactly what model Monitor 10 you have, but they fall into Ebay from time to time. You can also look for other models, same years, and match drivers with them.

Good luck, keep us updated on what you find.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Bingo, looking further I find both midrange drivers are more or less frozen. I guess I need new ones unless they can be fixed.

    Thanks

No they cannot be fixed, start looking for replacements. Sorry to hear that.
