No Orange light

I am in Australia and have just bought a 9000 sound bar which sounds great. However I am having trouble programming it to my remote for my brand new Panasonic ST60 TV. It works fine with the small supplied remote but as is strongly suggest in the manual I want to be able to control it from my TV remote - one of the great features of this sound bar.
I follow the steps but when I press Learn on the sound bar the light blinks red not orange and then goes to solid red. Of course it doesn't learn subsequent commands.
I have tried turning off the power and on again to no effect.
Any advice as to how to remedy this or shouldI take it back to the retailer here?
