From what I have seen in the last 20 years, society has no shame nor do they care about it.

A lot of truth to that....why do you think that is ?

In my opinion, various reasons. Society has abandoned holding others accountable, abandoned the education system, and abandoned their religious beliefs.....moral foundations.

From a personal perspective, I grew up a decent kid with a good foundation....a good sense of right and wrong. When your time comes to go out in the real world you learn that many are not on the same playing field as you in that regard. You become somewhat confused and start to compromise your beliefs, your foundations in order to compete in a big world. Lucky for me, I always had good friends to keep me grounded. It's always harder to do the right thing than the wrong. I guess in the long run you have to figure out whats important to you. The person you are or want to become, or just doing what ever it takes to chase down the almighty dollar. In other words, to live your life as an example for others, not someone elses idea of what it should be. That of course means different things to different people too.

The question has always been how to get back on track as a society. That starts at a personal level for each of us. Those decisions cannot be mandated or legislated. We always tend to complain about results from years of certain activity, a cummulation of behavior, without ever paying attention to the importance of each individual topic or behavior that has contributed.

I liken it to a snowball. On it's own it's small, of no consequence but put a lot of them together and you have an avalanche. Society has disregarded the snowballs and instead focus on only the coming avalanche. Bottom line....pay attention to the snowballs.
