Bush was done a great job so far. He inherited a lousy economy, a military that had been stripped bare. Taxes still need work, too many lazy people getting a hand out as far as I'm concerned. The federal government needs to really tighten the budget and quit giving away our hard earned dollars on frivolous programs.

I know I'll regret this but I'll ask anyway......

Sid, can you justify your statement?

I completely agree with you. I'm not too happy with Bush's domestic policy as a Conservative myself. I find it a tad bit amusing how much flak he gets because he isn't exactly the most civic minded Conservative at all.

Word is he's going to curtail spending a lot in 2005 which would be a welcomed change even for his current fiscal policies.

The War on Terror is a big deal though. You're essentially going to have an election between a guy trying to protect the country by defeating terrorism as best as it possibly can be and a guy who is going to bring all the troops home because 'we never should have gone their in the first place'. Howard Dean is a friggin crackpot IMO. I don't even know how he's going to get the Democratic ticket...but it looks like he is.

I thought he told you. I could tell you but I won't. Instead I'll just copy something I saw on another site.

    Accomplishments

    - Replaced Los Angeles with Houston as the most smog ridden city in America. Cut taxes and bankrupted the Texas government to the tune of billions in borrowed money.
    - Set record for most executions by any Governor in American history.

    - First year in office set the all-time record for most days on vacation by any president in US history.
    - After taking the entire month of August off for vacation, presided over the worst security failure in US history.
    - Set the record for most campaign fund-raising trips than any other president in US history.
    - In my first two years in office over 2 million Americans lost their job.
    - Cut unemployment benefits for more out of work Americans than any president in US history.
    - Set the all-time record for most foreclosures in a 12 month period.
    - Appointed more convicted criminals to administration positions than any president in US history.
    - Set the record for the least amount of press conferences than any president since the advent of television.
    - Signed more laws and executive orders amending the Constitution than any president in US history.
    - Presided over the biggest energy crises in US history and refused to intervene when corruption was revealed.
    - Presided over the highest gasoline prices in US history and refused to use the national reserves as past presidents have.
    - Cut healthcare benefits for war veterans.
    - Set the all-time record for most people worldwide to simultaneously take to the streets to protest me (15 million people), shattering the record for protest against any person in the history of mankind.
    - Dissolved more international treaties than any president in US history.
    - My presidency is the most secretive and un-accountable of any in US history.
    - Members of my cabinet are the richest of any administration in US history. (the 'poorest' multi-millionaire, Condoleeza Rice has an Exxon oil tanker named after her).
    - Presided over the biggest corporate stock market fraud of any market in any country in the history of the world.
    - First president in US history to order a pre-emptive US attack and military occupation of a sovereign nation.
    - Set the all-time record for biggest annual budget spending increases, more than any president in US history.
    - First president in US history to have the United Nations remove the US from the human rights commission.
    - First president in US history to have the United Nations remove the US from the elections monitoring board.
    - Removed more checks and balances, and have the least amount of congressional oversight than any presidential administration in US history.
-Rendered the entire United Nations irrelevant.
    - Withdrew from the World Court of Law.
    - Refused to allow inspectors access to US prisoners of war and by default no longer abide by the Geneva Conventions.
    - First president in US history to refuse United Nations election inspectors (during the 2002 US elections).
    - All-time US (and world) record holder for most corporate campaign donations.
    - My biggest life-time campaign contributor presided over one of the largest corporate bankruptcy frauds in world history (Kenneth Lay, former CEO of Enron Corporation).
    - First president in US history to unilaterally attack a sovereign nation against the will of the United Nations and the world community.
    - Took the biggest world sympathy for the US after 911, and in less than a year made the US the most resented country in the world (possibly the biggest diplomatic failure in US and world history).
    - With a policy of 'dis-engagement' created the most hostile Israeli-Palestine relations in at least 30 years.
    - First US president in history to have a majority of the people of Europe (71%) view my presidency as the biggest threat to world peace and stability.

    - Failed to fulfill my pledge to get Osama Bin Laden 'dead or alive'.
    - Failed to capture the anthrax killer who tried to murder the leaders of our country at the United States Capital building. After 18 months I have no leads and zero suspects.
    - In the 18 months following the 911 attacks I successfully prevented any public investigation into the biggest security failure in the history of the United States. Then I tried to put Henry Kissinger as head of that investigation but he was forced to resign when the American people overwhelmingly objected.
    - Removed more freedoms and civil liberties for Americans than any other president in US history. Most just from the misleadingly named PATRIOT ACT.
    - Entered office with the strongest economy in US history and in less than two years turned every single economic category heading straight down.

That list is so amusing Gidrah. Anything that's actually true?

I mean...how can one respond to morons that believe comments like this:

    - Attacked and took over two countries.

    - In my first two years in office over 2 million Americans lost their job.

I mean I could argue you point for point, but that would be senseless because you're too blind to even research the merits of that silly list yourself.

Hmm, I'd love to take a stab at some of the comments made by the Author, Whomever he/she may be.....

    - Set record for most executions by any Governor in American history.
The Governor of any state is bound by the laws of that state, he is not the person responsible for any death sentence being carried out. The laws of each state mandate the punishment.

    - Became president after losing the popular vote by over 500,000 votes, with the help of my fathers appointments to the Supreme Court.
American presidents are not elected by a popular vote, therefore the point is moot.

    - Attacked and took over two countries.
9/11 should have opened everyone’s eyes for more than 60 seconds, too soon we forget. Do your homework and understand why the attacks took place. The Taliban was behind many of the attacks that took place before 9/11 and were most certainly responsible for the organization of the attacks on OUR HOME!! Iraq defied UN mandates for over 10 years and has supported terrorist activities directed against our mothers and fathers, sons and daughters. In time we will leave these countries in better condition than they have ever been and will have wiped 2 murderous regimes from the planet. Not only was it the right thing to do, but it was well over due.

    - First president in decades to execute a federal prisoner.
Again the President is bound by law to uphold the constitution and the laws of the United States. The execution was punishment levied by a Federal Court. The Executive branch does not have the authority to do so. The point is moot.

    - First president in US history to enter office with a criminal record.
The constitution allows it, the voters approved. The point is moot.

    - After taking the entire month of August off for vacation, presided over the worst security failure in US history.
The previous administration had already hog tied the military and intelligence services of this country. The harm that was done by Clinton and his band of Merry Idiots will take decades to correct. The groundwork of the 9/11 tragedy was laid during the Clinton administration. He was offered Osama Bin Laden on a platter but declined. Wonder what could have been on his mind, A cigar, pizza, and a BJ?!? The embassies in Africa, The U.S.S. Cole, and 9/11 would never have happened if it weren’t for "Wild Bill Clinton."

    - Set the record for most campaign fund-raising trips than any other president in US history.
The ****! How dare he raise money to fund his election!

    - Appointed more convicted criminals to administration positions than any president in US history.
There are convicted criminals serving in many government offices, hell there might even be a convict sitting next to you on the bus, or even driving it. Our system of crime and punishment allows everyone of us a fresh start after they have paid their debit to society, or would you rather that we hold it over them for the rest of their lives. This is America, we are Americans, we don't do that to our own. Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, China, among others, may have a system more to your liking.

    - Set the record for the least amount of press conferences than any president since the advent of television.
Contrary to popular belief, the President of the United States is not the President of CBS, ABC, or NBC. The major networks have no obligation to broadcast anything that the President wants them to. Try turning on the radio, he's on almost every weekend.

    - Dissolved more international treaties than any president in US history.
    Name one!

    - Presided over the highest gasoline prices in US history and refused to use the national reserves as past presidents have.
9/11 caused more problems than President Bush ever could. I recall reading that the strategic oil reserves would last about 3 days basis on current consumption.

    - Presided over the biggest corporate stock market fraud of any market in any country in the history of the world.
For heavens sake look at a calendar!! The Enron and WorldCom fiascos had their roots in the late 90's! .... And the president was ??????

    - Members of my cabinet are the richest of any administration in US history. (the 'poorest' multi-millionaire, Condoleeza Rice has an Exxon oil tanker named after her).
SO EFFIN WHAT? These men and women worked hard to get what they have, the only crime here is envy! I've never been employed by a poor man, how about you?

-Rendered the entire United Nations irrelevant.
No they made themselves by failing to inforce their own resolutions. The U.S.A. and her allies stood up to a tyrant and did the dirty job that the U.N. was to YELLOW to do. The last decent thing the U.N. did was Resolution 242!!

    - Took the biggest world sympathy for the US after 911, and in less than a year made the US the most resented country in the world (possibly the biggest diplomatic failure in US and world history).
Take a look at the countries (at least the current leadership of said countries) that opposed our actions in Afghanistan and Iraq. Russia, China, Syria, etc, etc. We should really care what they think. There the hell do you think the weapons that are being used by the Taliban, and the Iraqi army came from? Oh, by the way, these countries are not known for their peace loving, pro-freedom policies. The last thing they want is another country full of people that have had a taste of political and religious freedom. So moot I could puke!

    - Refused to allow inspectors access to US prisoners of war and by default no longer abide by the Geneva Conventions.
Untrue, We do abide by the Geneva convention.

    - First president in US history to unilaterally attack a sovereign nation against the will of the United Nations and the world community.
And we did it all by ourselves right? Take a look at the facts, we acted with the support of many nations. There are over 60 nations that have lent troops or other types of support to our War against terror. God Bless All of Them!!

    - All-time US (and world) record holder for most corporate campaign donations.
And which law exactly was broken here?

    - Removed more freedoms and civil liberties for Americans than any other president in US history. Most just from the misleadingly named PATRIOT ACT.
Give me one good example of a personal freedom that YOU have had taken away from you.

    - Entered office with the strongest economy in US history and in less than two years turned every single economic category heading straight down.
Easy to say, scares the hell out of the uniformed, but is so wrong that it can't hold up under even a slight breeze of truth. Clinton’s economic policies laid the groundwork for the lousy economy we experience for a short time. But the biggest factor was the attack on the World Trade Center, re-read that please. The WORL TRADE CENTER. The object was not just to terrorize Americans, but to topple all that the Twin Towers stood for, free trade...world wide. The stock markets around the world suffered, and it poured down on many nations, not just on our economy.

    - For personal references please speak to my daddy or uncle James Baker
(They can be reached at their offices of the Carlyle Group for war-profiteering.)

When a legitimate argument can't be made, the week minded resort to personal attacks, and name-calling. A little education wouldn't hurt. Put down the joint and join society, we'd love to have you!
