I wonder how many times the end of the world had been predicted since in the A.D years.

This guy with all this rapture talk has done it at least twice before and even wrote a book about it called "1994?". The question mark being a critical part of that title.

He quotes scripture and goes on and on about it and only quotes what is relevant to his ideas. Ignores what contradicts his ideas.
He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority; Acts 1:7

Pretty critical verse right there is regards to his "predictions".

Beaucoup. Of course, they are all based on mythology, so they did not occur. Don't worry though. The "Stupid People" will continue to come up with crackpot ideas based on mythology. They will continue to cause death, destruction, and misery around the world based on mythology. So, there is an element of predictability based on mythology.

The mythological function of the 'mind' is important in many other areas of 'human cognition' besides Religion? Humans are 'meaning-seeking' beings. And everything they propose serves to bring an answer to the questions of their being finite, ephemeral creatures. Even scientific ideas start out as just that, i.e., imaginings, suggestions that have to be tested and verified. Let's not throw out the 'baby' with the bathwater.

I'm not particularly concerned with doomsday pronouncements because they represent something fundamental about the human psyche, i.e. the realization that all things must come to end, or more specifically each human life ends with the same song.

The only thing that miffs me is that the 'poor' and the desperate are usually the ones taken advantage of by millionaires like Mr. Camping! But perhaps Harold also took 'advantage' of himself, this time!

So they blew the prediction...no big deal...it's not like it's the end of the world or anything...

If I'm not mistaken, Shack is already in the entertainment business!

As for Harold Camping--wrong but not for 'long', lol:

OAKLAND, Calif. – California preacher Harold Camping said Monday his prophecy that the world would end was off by five months because Judgment Day actually will come on Oct. 21.

Camping, who predicted that 200 million Christians would be taken to heaven Saturday before the Earth was destroyed, said he felt so terrible when his doomsday prediction did not come true that he left home and took refuge in a motel with his wife. His independent ministry, Family Radio International, spent millions — some of it from donations made by followers — on more than 5,000 billboards and 20 RVs plastered with the Judgment Day message.

But Camping said that he's now realized the apocalypse will come five months after May 21, the original date he predicted. He had earlier said Oct. 21 was when the globe would be consumed by a fireball.

Saturday was "an invisible judgment day" in which a spiritual judgment took place, he said. But the timing and the structure is the same as it has always been, he said.

"We've always said May 21 was the day, but we didn't understand altogether the spiritual meaning," he said. "May 21 is the day that Christ came and put the world under judgment."

I think we may have needed extra 3D glasses to see this INVISIBLE judgment!

Some people just don't know when to 'quit'!

So, anyone who maxed out credit cards and tried to take advantage of last minute pleasures before leaving Earth on the May 21st will be left on Earth on Oct 21st?

Anyone who did a good deed on May 21st will be saved on the Oct 21st?

I should have known better.

I took advantage of last minute pleasures on May 21 and also did a good deed on that day. I plan to be in that half-way state where I can haunt Russman's house and listen to his gear when he's not home.

Obviously the two of you are not well versed on fundamentalist Christianity....

Deeds...good or bad...do not factor into the equation.

Either way...the guy is still a sham. He should have just admitted he doesn't have a clue when the world is going to end.

Looking at him...he may not make it 5 more months. He may kick the bucket beforehand and based on his destination figure out he wouldn't have been one of the raptured anyway (if it had happened). God doesn't take false prophets lightly...

Maybe the rapture actually happens sometime in the future...and he's "left behind". Now THAT would be cool!

The only 'rapture' that might ever happen is when aliens go into low earth orbit, and start beaming up the population.
