Everything I've read about that Kenwood is highly looked upon by. Are three of them really worth anything near 15k?

I just got my first taste of the separates thing; Apt Holman pre & Soundcraftsmen MA 5002. First impression, I'm not happy. The 1980 blows them away SQ wise. It seems as though everything I loved about the SDA's is gone. I'm still waiting on the Carver M-4.0t to get finished. The plan was to use the Carver up top, and the MA 5002 for the bottom. I'm holding out hope for the Carver, but am going to look at something else to replace the 5002.

I'm not sure what work you had done on those units, but I'm guessing new caps, etc., so they will need to burn in. That said, I still wouldn't have high hopes.

Nightfall... 15K... crazyness. Obviously there are 3 of them and they have been completely redone, painted with some sort of gems? The restoration must have cost a fortune.

I'm so curious if they sell, if I was loaded I would buy them but my 92 prelude is dying and I need to get a new car.
I'm still dreaming of sending my kenwood to echowars as he specializes in restoring them and people rave once they get theirs back.

    Wow

You like the Kenwood, so sell the others and send the Kenwood to Echowars.

Including mine, this is the second reading comprehension fail in this thread. MAD was talking about echowars, not drumiv. :D

    I don't think drumiv has a Kenwood.

Alas, I'm a poor working stiff, not a 1%er. My budget is what ever money I have after selling current gear. Which isn't quite as bleak as it may sound, some of this stuff should bring some coin(JBL's, Pioneer, KLH, Advent, ect.).

Update on the separates; I just picked up/ hooked up my new-to-me Parasound HCA 2200II. Love it! although the Soundcraftsmen was starting to break in a little more, I'm still going to let it go. I know there's better out there, but for now, with my budget (none), this stuff will do nicely. Can't wait to bi-amp.
