Folks, up for sale is my beloved SVS PB12 - PLUS/2 in Satin Black. The only reason for the sale is that I am remodeling and audio/video room, and it is just a little too large for the proposed location. This is a GREAT subwoofer. For those that do not know, it has 2-12 inch down firing woofers with a 750-watt RMS BASH AMP. It has three power ports that can be configured for different HZ settings. I have all three foam plugs, so it can even be ran in a sealed configuration. It sounds great for both HT and music. It is in MINT condition, and quite frankly not used all that often. I still have the manual and even the original packaging. This subwoofer has remained in one location for its entire life, in an adult only home with NO kids, pets, or smoke. SVS NO longer builds these dual configuration subwoofers, I imagine due to the cost of packaging and shipping. This subwoofer was built in the USA, back when SVS used to build them all in-house, versus China (good old days). I am asking $900.00 for a LOCAL pick-up in Central California. I prefer not to ship, due to size and weight, but if the buyer wishes to arrange and pay for shipping, I have no problem in doing so. It is a huge subwoofer though, and arrived on a pallet via freight carrier. If interested, please post here and/or PM me. Thank you

Hi, Below are the pictures. This is the Satin Black. I did not want Piano Black, because it leaves finger prints, scratches easily, and when wiped clean (even with microfiber), it leaves micro scratches on the finish. The Satin Black finish remains new looking literally forever. Where in Cali. are you located?

I've owned darn near every HT sub you might have heard of, and I own two of these units. The SPL and accuracy is simply amazing for the price. I've ben enormously pleased with them, and have had zero problems with either of them in the 3 plus years I have owned them.

You are correct that the cost and size were the reason that SVS phased them out. SVS also made a 4-driver unit for a short while that I was able to audition, but not buy. Slightly more raw SPL, but two plus-2 units made room mode placement issues easier to deal with.

    GLWTS!

LeftCoast, tried to reply to your PM, but your Inbox is full. Below is what I tried to send you:

Are you a Costco member? If so, you can log on to their website (TRAVEL section), and they will give you the least expensive price, or you can bid through Priceline, but Costco is more convenient. A minivan would also work, with the seats folded, of course:) It is about 29 inches long, 19 inches wide, and 27 inches in height (all rounded up to the nearest full inch).

Own one of these myself, it's a beast & I have no intention of getting rid of it. For the benefit of others, do you know which version of the 12" Plus driver this has?

As far as I can remember, it has really nice dual 12.3 woofers.

If you take a peek at the cones of the drivers, you can easily tell. Silver = 12.2, Black = 12.3.

I know this since I just managed to snatch one of these up on my local Craigslist recently. It has the newer 12.3 drivers, as well as being the rosewood version, which surprisingly matches my cherry LSi15s nicely. I will also mirror what others are saying: this thing is a beast and also very accurate. Pick this one up while you can!

Folks, it has the 12.3 version woofers:) Also, I will sell a brand new never used Auralex Great Gramma isolation platform for $75.00 that will fit this subwoofer like a glove. It handles up to 300 pounds. I took a picture of the Great Gramma placed above the subwoofer just to show how perfect of a fit it is. This platform isolates the bass, and keeps it from radiating to the ground. It also keeps the subwoofer from moving in hardwood/tile floors. I answered several other PM's today as well.

Not to veer my threar off topic and no offense to anyone with the HSU, but IMHO the HSU is not in the same class/league. I feel that the materials are of a lesser quality. One woofer for the HSU, versus two for the SVS (less output/head room), 350 watts RMS for the HSU, versus 750 RMS for the SVS, variable port tuning for the SVS, etc...

Agreed, the numbers would indicate it would handily beat the HSU, but I'm curious about actual listening impressions.

Oh, and no offense taken, I just got one and I love it, I'm floored by it's performance. Ive never heard anything SVS but know they review extremely well, and figured in this price range for the sake of a good sale a comparison could come in handy...and satisfy my curiosity. And they seem to be compared to SVS subs a lot, usually not as well, but always with the asterisk that for the price of one SVS you can have two HSU's which will handily beat a single SVS. Also, the VTF-15 does have port tuning. :)

FWIW, if I were still doing a previously planned trip to San Francisco, I would have a tough time NOT swinging by to grab this sub, or at least take a listen, I've loosely been considering a second HSU, and for the price this looks like a killer deal!

^^^ If you are within your 30 days, return the HSU, and get the performance of two HSU's for 1/2 price with this sub:) The trip to SF will pay for itself:) You also have not to only factor in the amount of bass (SPL), but the QUALITY of the bass. Of course that you could get two HSU's for the price of one ULTRA PB 13 SVS, but there is no comparison, as they are not within the same class. It is like saying that for the price of a Mercedes, BMW, or Lexus (or whatever luxury car brand you prefer), you could buy two Honda's or Toyota's:) I just personally feel that when you compare an HSU to a comparably priced SVS within the same class, the SVS will come out ahead. But hey, I am biased, and the woderful thing is that we have so many choices to select from. Now back on topic. A LOT of interest, but no one has pulled the trigger as of yet.

    Another free off-topic bump.

I hear ya, I'm biased too, considering the HSU is the first real sub I've owned!
No returns here, Bought it used, local sale with most of the warranty still on it. From all I've read it's very hard for one $2,000 sub to beat two VTF-15's, if only because of more even room response. http://www.avsforum.com/t/1315461/dual-vtf-15s-can-i-do-better-for-2k/0_100#post_20011369
Haven't tried it myself, would love to though! For the money this is a killer deal, and I've no doubt that sub for sub it's a step above the HSU.

    Somebody will pull the trigger!

Here's a super in depth review of this sub, sounds like a lot of fun. SOMEBODY BUY THIS so I'm not tempted to. :p

This is one heck of a sub. If it were located anywhere near San Diego, I would have already picked it up and had two of them in my HT instead of one. Awesome for HT and detailed enough to nicely fill in nicely for music where needed. So powerful and can move a ton of air. I played a SACD piece that had a pipe organ where it hit so low I couldn't hear it but could see my projector shaking from the air movement in the room!....and that was with it tuned to 20hz. Somebody go get this thing.
