It's just not good practice. Why use extra long lengths and coil the unused part if it's not necessary?
"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. NEVER coil wires. Zig-zag: ok; coil: bad. The opposite wire will mostly cancel the inductor effect, but not 100%- you'd need perfect orientation and identical tolerances. Without that, you're going to be far more susceptible to all kinds of EMI, plus you're adding something extra to the signal path. In this case lazy is better- no neat coils, if you want it pretty, "S" them back and forth and tie that. Or just get cables the right length.
