I'll disagree on one thing, peaceful protest are not condoned....they allow people the luxury to forget and move on.

I was looking at some Tweet comments.....now come on, threatening his life, promoting others to go kill him. Wouldn't that classify as a hate crime ? Where's the justice in that ? Oh...it's only a hate crime if you express hate against those who agree or support those who make the rules ? This comes down to picking and choosing what laws to enforce and what not to, who they will be enforced against, and who they won't. Riots out in California....since when do police just stand by while they vandalize property and smash police cars ? What kind off frickin' policy is that ? It enables them to do more if there are no repercussion's for their actions. Really guys, look at some tweets....disgusting how low we can go.

So by twisted logic if GZ would have died from a blood clot to his brain from having his nose broken and his head hit concrete from an assault, there was no crime committed b/c it was done by a scared 17 yo kid who decided he would confront someone following him.

After watching some of the usual suspects (Sharpton, Jesse, the media) talk about how wrong the verdict was and how they will not let Treyvon rest until the Justice Department brings about a civil rights case... my question is why do they not do something for the 72 victims of gun crime in Chi-town over the 4th of July weekend, or for the countless unreported beatings people of other ethnic groups have been subjected to, including an elderly white man attacked by a mob high school aged black youth shouting "this is for Treyvon"...

This entire case was a media sham from day one, and shows just how much like sheep people really are.

But it doesn't explain why the media would compare TM's race vs GZ's heritage/race to affect/flavor the debate that this was a hate crime to inflame the situation. Here is the what the media did.

There is nothing to see there c'mon...And when we want to get to the truth about people discouraging voters at polls with military style uniforms and batons...dismissed..... And when we give guns to drug lords that end up killing border control agents.... invoke presidential privelage... we don't deserve the truth b/c we elected liars.

Doesn't he know that TM wasn't even on trial, GZ was. Again, so many pushing the racial issue which only serves to divide people. Celebs and even Harry Reid making comments to excite people.

As said previously in the thread, our court system may not be perfect but it is what we have to work with and operate under. People may or may not like the decision, cool.....we all have opinions. To excite people to riot, bring out the racism charges, or threaten GZ with death is just crazy and should be a crime on it's own. Getting the Feds involved is a waste of tax payer money imho. Then again, when has that been a concern to anyone down there.

This reminds me of the old Salem witch hunts.....burn 'em at the stake, we don't need no stinking evidence. Once again, history repeats itself and we have learned nadda.

Exactly my good man. Just like the **** marriage vote in California. Twice the people voted no, only to have the feds swoop in and change all that. So your vote counts, but only to what is deemed important by an elite group. The judicial verdicts apply, but only to those deemed worthy. It's all right in front of your nose, no conspiracy theory....no tin foil hat wearers needed.

I dont care. There was not enough evidence to convict him of murder plain and simple. There were no witnesses and the prosecution couldnt put together a strong enough case to find him in violation of florida law. What kills me is that the spokesmen of minority groups dont realize that they are further seperating the races by not respecting the outcome of a valid trial. They, and many others obviously have nothing better to do.

Absolutely! And this has been the case "throughout human history and evolution". In fact, there is NO biological ground for the idea of RACE. And just what constitutes a RACE varies wildly from the U.S. to Brazil, to Japan, etc. Because RACE is NOT a biological concept but a cultural/historical/political/economic CONSTRUCT that changes throughout human history.

Take Native Americans as an example. Initially mistaken for residents of the sub-continent of India, then later seen as somehow remnants of Greco-Roman times, then children of Nature, then less than the White man when Manifest Destiny kicked in. U.S. policy toward them was one of ELIMINATION through ASSIMILATION: where it became possible for them to BECOME white through enough intermarriage. Various states had quotient figures for what percentage of N.A. blood was "necessary" to claim "benefits" from the U.S. Gov't (Reservation Autonomy, support, land, etc.). The idea was that the Indian "problem" would eventually disappear as they intermarried with whites and disappeared into the general population. Yet, that's not quite what happened?

For blacks, there was NO quantitative reckoning for assimilation. Anyone with ANY black ancestry was automatically considered black, this is known, historically as Hypodescent or the "one Drop rule". The history can be easily documented and explained though it takes a little time to make the FULL argument and understand it.

The number of Racial Categories in Brazil would BOGGLE any American mind. You can have several different races in ONE biological family of completely related individuals descendant from the same TWO parents?

Anyone interested in the "history" of these differences is referred to Harris, Marvin: Patterns of Race in the Americas. Enjoy, it will BEND your mind and make you wonder how anyone can equate RACE with BIOLOGY!

The ONLY thing that would have made Jackson and Sharpton happy was a jury full of black men and Zimmerman headed to the electric chair right after the Guilty of 1st Degree Murder charge was handed down. In their eyes a non-black male shot and killed a black male. The facts are irrelevant.

I made the mistake of reading these posts and as a result my opinion of otherwise savvy music types has plummeted. Some of the comments are really beyond reason.

It's the mindset of a country where there is an abnormal obsession with firearms and not just for
hunting and the denigration of minorities be it racial or cultural. In some states people are allowed
to carry them in churches of all places which I would have thought is the last place a religious
person would carry a gun. Now some states want teachers to have them. What happens when
a teacher has a bad day and opens fire in a classroom? Given the law of averages that will happen. This hasn't always been the case!

This phenomenon is recent, since the 1990s. According to statistics there is an average of 32,000 deaths by firearms in the U.S. every year. Since Newtown when all of those children were shot
there have been 6,100 some suicides but mainly homicides. Mr. Martin was another statistic of that aforementioned obsession. An individual shot because someone felt empowered because
they had a gun. There is no question but that Mr. Zimmerman wouldn't have got out of his car and followed the individual if he hadn't had a weapon which gave him that sense of empowerment.
Without the gun none of the events of that night would have happened. If people feel compelled
to comment on social issues at least try to be constructive. That's what this thread should be
about and not the usual conservative minority bashing postings of some on here.

Ideally these forums should really be about music, period and that's what Polk should enforce.
There are plenty of social commentary websites where people can post their intolerant remarks.
