It's more like an audio space heater. I can't wait for winter to arrive. I'm surprised I never noticed the bug in the pre-amp display before. I don't used the CD player that much anymore, and usually let a CD play straight through.

Okay. While not an aesthetic solution, this works. These amps, for whatever reason, have a faceplate on either side of the meters. This means the meters are mounted on the amps proper, and there is an approximate 1/8" gap between the meters and the faceplate. This area is approximately 9 1/2" wide and 10 1/2" high. So I cut two pieces of cardboard slightly less than that size, and slid it into the slot created by the faceplate. Eureka! Problem solved. This is why I are an engineer paid the big bucks.

But they don't sound as good with the big blue meters covered up.

Congrats on your further descent into the rabbit hole.

Au contraire, the late night, low light ambience is greatly enhanced, resulting in a much more pleasant experience, with the end result being greater musical clarity and depth.

I wish we could change our names, since from now on my name is Mr. Frugal.
