Ive been using no subwoofer on my SDA2b's. i have found that i never need one. Seems like tons on bass for my listening. . I was curious to see if any one else doesnt use one ? Or'if you do--do you benefit from using it for your listening ? Im sure it depends how your using them. I have not tried HT with the set i have now. BUT the set i had before i did use as HT and i dont recall if i did--but id love to here your feedback because i am doing the HT set up in the near future. But not sure im going to use Vintage speakers. TIA:wink:

I have hooked up both my Velodyne and my M&K subs to see how they sound.

When listening to music they detract from the experience. If I am using my 3.2tl's for home theater they add to it. But only for explosions, chases, and transformer battles.

For two channel, no sub required, especially if you did the Dimensional Inductor upgrade. Home Theater on the other hand, really should have a dedicated sub or subs.
My 2ATLs sound incredible on their own in two channel, but I turn my subs on for Home Theater.

I was playing around the other day & i realize i never use my subwoofer. I have it adjusted to my likings & it seems i never use it. I dont need any more bass for 2 channel listening which i listen to 99.5% of the time. I unhooked sub awhile ago & still have no need to hook it back up----when i do go HT i plan on going in a different direction than vintage--there may be advantages if using sda's with sub on HT i see. Thanks for feedback

I use a 15" velodyne sub with my modded 2.3TL two channel system. The sub is set at a low level to reinforce bass presence, not so much for increased output. My speaker placement is not ideal though as my listening room has a fireplace with shelving on either side. The speakers are on either side of the fireplace so I'm unable to get them close enough to the back wall for bass reinforcement.

An 18" def tech sub compliments my 1.2tl's very nicely. The only time I notice it's on is when I turn it off. Then it's like what the hell happened. A quality and properly integrated sub definitely adds to the sda experience my ears tell me.

Ditto if you did the dimensional inductor as stated by westmassguy. I have a good quality sub that I had the cross-over turned down to 35Hz, so it really only started to kick in for the lowest of notes. In two channel it just adds too much with the larger inductor. Even though I do miss a few notes, and I'm talking literally 3 or 4 notes at the very bottom, it just doesn't blend anymore. For HT, I agree with almost everyone else that you need all the 'explosive' power just for a fun movie experience.
SDA SRS modded: X’ovrd, de-polyed, inductorized, interconnectorized, re-posted, dynamited, RDO’d, spiked, gasketed, ringed (Larry's), and grill cloth blinged! Done this on my own? Not a chance. Thanks to Raife and all who forged easy to follow upgrades. At least a 100% improvement in sound and my personal listening pleasure! :cheesygrin:Pass XP-10 preamp, Parasound A21 amp, Pioneer Elite DV-58AV (Ric Shultz modded), Audioquest Sky IC's, No longer need my Sunfire sub after mods...

As most of you know I now own SDA 2BS and find that there is no reason for a sub they go that low. In fact since I got these my Klipsch h/d #500 smalls have been audio muted and all is running through the SDA 2BS.That's kinda impressive to me

The only reason I can think of using a SUB with SDAs is if you are running them in a HT and need to get that EXTRA LFE bass extension. Otherwise, for two channel, SDAs can handle the range within "most" music is found!

Since I do NOT use mine in a HT config. I've never used a sub!
