How do I get my new PSW10 working?

Hi. I've got issues. I have a Sherwood RX-4503 2.1 channel receiver, with Polk R300s and I'm trying to add a PSW10 to the receiver's sub out. Simple enough right?

Well when I first connected the new 25ft cable between the sub out and the sub's input, I set the sub's gain to 50%, the xover freq to 100Hz, and I turned the power switch to the On position. Nothing came out of the sub while the R300s played happily. Strange. Do I have a faulty sub?

I then turned off the sub and moved the cable from the sub out on the receiver to the audio out on the cd player. Turned the sub back on and boom boom boom sound came out. Yeah it's not the sub. Turned the sub off again, moved the cable back to the sub out on the receiver, turned on the sub and it finally worked.... ..... until I turned it off. Because when I turned it back on, it didn't work anymore.

So I did the same thing. I moved the cable from the sub out to the cd audio out. The sub worked again. Moved the cable back to the sub out on the receiver, turned the sub back on and it worked again. Until I turned it off. When I turned the sub back on, it wouldn't play anymore.

I really like this sub and I got a great deal on it. So I don't want to bring it back. Any ideas on how to make it work full time?

I'm pretty sure I've tried everything from that thread. I just can't seem to wake up the beast without first feeding it a signal from the cd player. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. It's as if the signal from the receiver isn't enough to get the sub going, but I have heard it working with the receiver. So I'm undecided that that's the problem.

Another thing I should mention is that my receiver is very basic. I cannot set a xover freq for the sub out, nor can I tell the receiver to turn the sub out on or off. It's supposedly all just automatic. The only thing I can do is set the output level on the sub out. However, I've had it set to 0dB and it worked fine, until I turned the sub off.

Have you tried running the sub wiring to one of your speakers rather than the sub out from your receiver?

I'm not sure what you mean. I'm sorry, it's late and my brain is down to a crawl.

I called Polk's tech support who instructed me to use my speaker B output on the receiver to the high level inputs on the sub, and it works. Maybe there's something wrong with the sub out on the receiver. Anyway, I'm ready to enjoy my music.
