SWA500 Stopped Working?

I have an SWA500 powering the larger Polk-compatible subwoofer, wall mounted. Fed from a Yamaha RX-A1000 out of the "subwoofer out" jack on the back of the receiver. It worked fine on installation but at some time not too long ago I noticed the subwoofer was not working. I just climbed into the attic with a DVD playing with lots of bass and sure enough, no "boom boom boom" coming from the subwoofer itself. SWA500 power is "on", same result with "standby-auto-on" switch in any position.

Any comments appreciated before I call Polk tech support first thing Monday morning.

    Hello sking43,
Welcome to Polk's forum. Probably a good thing to do would be to turn the volume down on the SWA500, then go to the rear of the Yamaha and remove the cable that leads to the Polk. Then connect this cable to either the right or left audio output of your DVD or CD player. Then start playing a CD and turn the volume up a small amount on the SWA500, you should hear plenty of bass coming from your subs.
    Regards, Ken

Same issue! The 500 must have been caught up in all the anti-bullying propaganda. It’s not beating on the 155 anymore. Did what I could to find the cause. I have a stand-alone powered sub that I used to trace the issue.

Disconnected the media input from the SWA, put it to the other sub. Input works.
Took the leads to the 155 and put them to the other sub. 155 works.
Wired the speaker inputs from the receiver to the SWA, removed the RCA – Nothing… Dead!
Changed the SWA input/output from the left to the right channel – Nothing… Dead!
Took the RCA from the receiver and went straight to another audio source (DirecTV out) – Nothing… Dead!

Being its Saturday, I’ll have to wait until Monday to speak to anyone. I had thought I created an Polk account, but I cannot gain access. SN:AW051505752 if it makes any difference…

Wish someone would have followed up on this thread with a resolution or what the outcome of the OP's issue was....

Only the OP can do that, but seeing that it was 2.5 years ago, I'm pretty sure he called Polks CS and some sort of resolution was reached. By the sound of your problem, it appears dead so a call to them is also your best recourse.

Yes... OP should have followed up to assist others with the same issue. That said, I had the opportunity to call Tech support today. As with all high-tec equipment, the solve is to send it in to Vista, CA. The agent I spoke with was very helpful and understanding of my plight. Thus far, Polk Customer Service gets high marks...
