New Marantz SA 8004 SACD/CD/DAC

Finally got a chance to really listen without distraction today, and i'll give some feedback.

Hooked it to my Yaqin MC 100b with upgraded Shuguang 50 years treasures with a AQ King Cobra IC into my VR3 Modded LSi 9's.

Listening to Holst Orchestral Works on SACD

The unit it self is a tank (weighs near 20lbs.)and plays silently. Aesthetically, Marantz is always eye candy.

The sound is very pure, and I don't find it to be the least bit colored by the player. I can hear bow on strings .

The headroom between quiet passages played and peaks is huge. Bass response is tight and very pleasing.

Only disappointment so far is that the stock power cable is a piece of poo. Didn't expect that it would be great, but i will replce that in the near term.

If there is a SACD/CD player in your future, give this one a look/listen.

They are from garage sale scrap heap. Gotem for $.50. Coconut audio would sell them as stereo sub-sonic enhancers, and they would go for $1,000,000 performance price, $500,000 factory direct, introductory offer of $125,000 with a savings of $875,000.

Very sweet! That was on my short list of SACD players when I was looking to upgrade about 8 months ago. They are a great value and one helluva good sounding player!

Have it. Love it. May trade into an Oppo one day for the streaming and balanced outputs, but this Marantz is fantastic.

Great... But my old cd changer was a peiceachit... Was listening to Steely Dan Everything Must Go last nite and on the Things That I Miss The Most track, I was able to make out some lyrics that even though I knew what they were, I could here them clearly where I had to look them up to know what they were previously. I may be over anal eye zing, but it is very impressive to me and my ear.I have played about 20 cd's thru it so far, and nothing yet sounds mushie. Bass is nice and tight like i like it, and this combination CD/Amp/Speaks is keeping me indoors too much right now.

I have been doing alot of listinin to my new rig but the dam tubes with my sucky air conditioner in this hot weather is killin me :eek:

Congrats! Manufacturers expect that some owners will want to replace the stock power cord with an aftermarket of their own choice anyway, so they won't furnish a new player with an expensive cord. Also, if the player is sounding as wonderful as you say, the power cord cannot be that big a piece of poo, right? :biggrin:

Doing some revsions on the rack:

I put the DSW Micropro1K on the bottom of the rack suspended from the floor and making no contact with the rack wirh spikes on a Subdude. I ordered an amp shelf to put over the CD player to put the tt on but it's not here yet so tt is on the floor for now.
