PSW10 has Bad Board No Power is it Fixable

I received an oldish PSW10, date 2004, that had problems with the built in AMP. The amp would power up for a
second or two and then blow the fuse. I tested the speaker and it works great so I cut the wires and have been powering the subwoofer with my receiver along. My problem is that the receiver is sending everything to the sub, not just the low end. Is it possible to use the controller board that is built in to the PSW10 with out additional power/power supply? I want to use the low pass filter that this subwoofer came with, if possible. In truth I am not sure what is wrong that would cause the fuse to blow, but am hoping its the power supply.

I have looked at some low pass crossovers to add to the subwoofer but if the one that it come with is still in working order would ratter use that one.

If buying one is the best answer I can do that, but would like to be able to use what I got, to say the least.

Personally I would just purchase a new unit. PSW10s are about $99 new, so repairing it would generally not be worth the hassle.

I didn't realize this model was still being sold, thought it had be discontinued.
After checking the board out again, I think the capacitors are the problem. But a Multimeter to test capacitors runs $60+ it would make more sense to buy new.


Unless someone knows of how to test capacitors with a very basic volt meter?

Dont buy another one. I love polk.the psw10 sub is a bane on the polk name. They make some fine subs but the psw 10.isnt one of them

I agree with the above statement. The PSW10 was/is terrible. Save a bit and get a PSW505 for $179 on sale. 100x better.
