Polk LSI Side panel: Real hardwood or veneer?
I got a pair of lsi9 black from local CL today. Tested sound good and over all good except few scratches on both side wood panels and missing front covers. No scratch on black gloss panels. I am think refinish(sand down and stain) the wood panel but have to make sure they real hardwood. if not, can I replace the panels? Can I remove the panels fromthe speaker? what are my options?
Please advise!
Thanks,
Joe

They are wood veneer over MDF. IIRC, the side panels on the early models are fairly easy to remove, but the later models are much more difficult. Try a search here as I know some of the guys have worked on the side panels.Political Correctness'.........defined

Thanks, Found all old threads. I have the old series that are gloss on both sides. I guess my options will be either replace with new hardwood or without. But since I have all my LSI series in cherry (except the center) and I have done some wood working before I most likely will replace with cherry finish.
I will have to call Polk CS for a new set front covers.MAIN:
