"Better" is relative and highly subjective.

I owned an MX-1 but I sold it. I currently own four GFA-5500's. The MX-1 had faster, tighter, more detailed bass than the GFA-5500, but I preferred the Adcom in all other areas such as sound staging and overall clarity and detail. I sold the MX-1 to a guy who preferred the MX-1 over the GFA-5500, so, it all comes down to which amp gives you more of the sonic flavors you prefer. Both amps provide a lot of value and performance for the money.

Thanks, DarqueKnight, I desided to buy the Adcom GFA-5500,
Sonics, details and sound stage are more important to me

I almost pulled the trigger on one but got a PS Audio 200CX instead. The GFA5500 is greatly admired. I couldn't hear them side by side so I'd be interested in your impressions once you get a chance to listen. Hope you get many many hours of good music
