I have had the polk audio surroundbar 3000 for over a year now and I have programmed my remote to turn the sound bar on and off. If I am lying on the couch and turn the bar on it will come on but it will not turn the tv on unless I get up and point the remote over the sound bar. Is the bar supposed to turn the tv on and off or is the programming just to have the remote work for the bar? Should I have the tv on a platform above the bar? Thanks.

It just seems you are blocking the TV sensor.

You also may be able to program your cable remote to turn everything at least on at once if your remote is not a universal one.

It is a direct tv remote. That was my question. Is the bar supposed to be able to turn your television on if you program the bar with the remote?

    Hello emmo0527,
Welcome to Polk's forum. No, the SB won't turn the TV on. It's a good idea in such cases as yours, but alas it won't.
