Have you ever had way too many speakers and didnt want to rid of any ? I find myself to the point i like them all ! Wife thinks im nuts !! Im thinking of finishing off basement for another small music room to hide..i have a few sets of spare speakers that are just sitting in limbo & HATE the thoughts of weeding them out:sad: am i alone here ?

The problem with speakers is that they're fairly large.
The up side of traditional "monkey coffin" designs is that they make pretty good stands to put other equipment (or even more speakers) on top of :-)

I have that very problem. The wife has solved it to a point. To speakers come in the house. Two speakers have to leave the house. The upside is I can have as many as I want in the garage. Good luck. D

I have nice monitor 10's sda 2a's and a real nice pair of srs2's sitting in my home in New Jersey with my x-wife. They just sit around waiting for me to come rescue them. I have finally put the PSB T Towers to work in my living room and my SF GPD are my primary speakers in my listening room.

Five pair of speakers and use two, not too bad I bet compared to all the nuts around here.

The SRS2's should be sold to someone so they can enjoy them. I'd hate to part with them though.......... typical? YES

Well, I think George has just convinced me that I don't have enough speakers! Even though I do have a couple of closets that have the following in them waiting for their rotation:

    HH Scott S-11
Paradigm 7se MK? (don't remember the model number 8" two way)
Polk TSI-300 (waiting for their chance when I decide to go 7.1)
Realistic MC1000 (nothing special, all mids and highs, almost no real bass--but nice wood finish, came with receiver)
Realistic Nova 7B and Nova 8s
Minimus 7W (wood finish, the classiest of the 7s, also have a black aluminum pair on an STA 700)
SDA 2B (not currently on the Tube amp, but soon to be rotated in)
Monitor 10As (waiting for grills so they can move to a supplementary two channel in the main HT room)
    Dayton Audio B652
    KLH 911b
    EPI 120C
    There are probably others!

    In use:
    Monitor 5As
    CSW Model Six
    KLH 17
    ADS L520
    Dynaco A25
    JBL L80t
    LSI-7s
    Advent OLA
    EPI 100V

As per mhardy. A lot of the above is stacked three pairs high and attached to various vintage receivers or integrateds:
    Realistic STAs
    Sansui
    Yamaha
    Pioneer
    JVC
    Marantz
    Kenwood
    Harman Kardon and so on.

And, it goes without saying that my wife thinks I'm a little mad? Fortunately I have a finished basement, an upstairs office and a HT room on the first floor, oh...and closet space! lol

I don't have that issue as I'd rather sell them and put the money toward something else, then sell those and put the money towards something else, then sell those and put the money towards something else.

Is there a thread that's the opposite to this one? I'm sure I'm not the only one with that problem..

Somebody should start that thread because, bad as hoarding might be, and I'm not saying it "is"; the SPEED with which some people here move through speakers and equipment makes the Enterprise seem like it's not even pushing impulse power.

Considering that they say that audio memory is very very "short term". It is unlikely that such rapid movement leads to any real long term assessments and comparisons between various pieces that carry much weight. It takes a LONG period to get to know a sound or the performance of a set of speakers or amps, etc. At least it does for me.

I've listened to my KLH 17s for almost a couple of years and they still surprise me, on occasion.

I would so do that myself if the opportunity presented itself; I've never (knowingly) heard a pair of the "jr" version - I am most curious about them.

The two other things I'd have a hard time resisting is an early pair of Monitor 4 (with the Peerless tweeters) and, a sentimental favorite, a pair of the original, trapezoidal enclosure, Mini-Monitors. You know, for my Chevy Van ;-)

There is another question to be asked here. What would you move out and for what?

I'd like to get my hands, I mean "ears" on some:

    Allison
    Bozak
    Cizek
Altec....and would move some things above for that. Obviously I favor two way classics a lot because they're easy to rotate in and out and store. But many of the above are pretty big boys.

I've already heard some ARs including the AR9s which are really "something" special!
