Hi to all,

At the moment, I have the RT800, RT600 and CS350 run from a Yamaha DSP-A2 and a Pioneer Dv-717 on a Sony Wega 29''. Since I am getting a new Infocus SP5700, I thought its about time to update my system a little ... ;-)

What I was thinking of was:

- Meridian 558.2 5x200W Amp (for quality, not dbs - could go for the 5x100W G55 but I want to plan ahead for possible future speaker update)
- Meridian G68ADV Surround Processor
- Denon DVD2900 Progressive scan DVD

Has anyone had any experience with something similar? Any comments/suggestions? I know that the RTs will definately play better, but I wonder if they will keep up with the rest of the stuff, or not ...

:-S

    Costas,

Nice to hear from you again.

The Denon 2900 is very well liked by several owners here.

Have not seen too many Meridian owners here. Very stylish pieces and I have read some good reviews, but cannot compare it to other options. Hopefully others will be along with more input.

    Hi Tour2ma,

Nice to hear from you too!,

basically I am wondering if the RTs will handle the power of the Amp (5x200W meridian style ;-)

Ofcourse I would also like what others have to say about this..

I see no issues with the RT's handling 200 watts. Only your 600's are rated at less than 200 watt, and they are rated at 150 watts.

Speaker ratings are continuous power ratings. They can take more than what they are rated for over short periods of time for transients in music or soundtracks.

More speakers are damaged being driven by underpowered amps clipping when they run out of power, than are damaged by being driven past their handling capacity.

The 2900 is well worth the money. The audio/vidio quality is superb even next to a friends Rotel and IMO the Denon wooped its arse plus I had SACD cabability.

Buy now and you won't be let down.

Actually, there is a better model than 2900. For a 1000$ more, you get the also new DVD-A11 which is what I am getting. It adds a Faroudja chip instead of the SiL, and DVI output among other features.

get the info on pdf from:
