has anyone had success using an external USB DAC with a USB hub? if yes, what kind of hub did you use?

i am talking about having a USB hub connected to a laptop. Plugged into the hub is the external DAC and other devices. The hub I currently have it causes popping noises to appear in the audio. I was wondering if there is a USB hub out there that is perhaps better quality than the one I have (which is a very generic, low price model).
