SDA SRS 2 with TL upgrades in the Kansas City/Midwest Areas

I have a pair of SDA SRS 2TL's for sale. I picked these up last summer from long time C.P. member Paul, aka "Stumpy". Paul had done the TL upgrade to the x-overs utilizing a combination of Sonic/Solen Caps and Mills Resistors. He had also upgraded the tweeters with RDO-198's, new Cardas Binding Posts, and Larry's rings on all the mid-drivers/Passive Rad.

I added a full set of Larry's tweeter brackets, added new driver gaskets (Mikes "brgman" one piece), Dynamat on all the driver baskets, added a couple of strips of Sonic Barrier behind the mid-driver section of the cabinets, removed all the Oak caps and stripped/refinished, reclothed all the side panels and grills with Parts Express Mellotone Premium Grill cloth (good stuff, and a very close match to the original cloth). Original SDA cable included also.

The SRS 2's are not perfect, but still a very solid, very clean example, with only one small flaw in on the back edge of one of the top caps and a few scuffs on the rear of the cabinets. I would rate them a strong 8/10 on the Audiogon scale.

From a sonic standpoint, they are excellent. I have other smaller SDA's that are a little better fit in my set-up, and the SRS 2's aren't getting the attention they deserve.

I live approx. 90 miles from downtown K.C., about 3-1/2 hours from Omaha, around 2-1/2 hours from Des Moines, and close to 3-4 hours from St. Louis.

I have sold SDA's in the past to C.P. members from St. Louis, Omaha and the Des Moines areas, I think they were all glad they made the trip.

Please show any interest here or via P.M. Thanks, Mike

GLWTS Mike! I hope it doesn't take as long to sell those as it did mine. They look very nice. Love the looks of the Magnum too.
Dying to get my system back up and going. Your offering a lot bang for the buck there.
What do you have in line to replace these with?

I also have a pair of 3.1TL's and a pair of 1C's that have pretty much had the same restoration as the SRS 2's. I know there is no such thing as "too many" SDAs, but I just hate to see the 2's sitting here and not being put to good use.

Haha, can't have too many SDA's. Mike, how much of an upgrade, sound wise, would the SRS 2's be over the 2B TL's, if any?

To be honest, I've never heard a pair of 2B's. I do own a pair of CRS+ that have had the 4.1TL upgrade. I think both of these speakers have the same mid-drivers and one tweeter, with a better bass response going to the 2B's.

The SRS 2's have twice the mid-drivers and tweeters, and a lot more cubic inches of room in the cabinet to power the 15" passives. They are a "Signature Series" SDA that has been a very good example over the years, the SDA effect with them is wicked good. More of a "smaller" SRS or 1.2 sound.

I've heard folks compare them to the 1C's on steroids, that's a pretty good analogy, more of everything.

Hey Doug, Thanks for the offer, we live right off US 36/110, the "new" Chicago to Kansas City route, bypassing that wonderful piece of pavement I-70, so right on the way.

Very nice speakers and a good deal for someone, especially with all of those upgrades.

I wish I were closer but NY is just too far from KC.

Thanks for the props guys, I bought these from Stumpy, a great guy and long time C.P. member. Paul passed these on to me at a very reasonable price. I'm trying to do the same and feel like the SRS 2's are priced very fairly considering all the mods/work that have been done to them. The speaker cloth alone was over $60. it's not thin, cheap stuff.

I sold a STOCK pair of SRS 2's back in '06 http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?44793-FS-SDA-SRS-2-s-Kansas-City-Area for just a little less. Todays pair are definitely "Plug & Play" and they play very well.

Not to mention the effort. Been there and done that. I had a pair of SRS2's that I modded/re-clothed due to the previous owners bad kitty with cat-scratch fever. Screaming deal here, well worth the more than FAIR price!

That seems to be the usual problem with SDA's, too big to ship, or too far to drive, especially when you live in the middle of nowhere like myself.

Mike why don't you put your zip code in your "Location".
I have noticed most people here don't put where they live,
am I missing something, is there people that cruise these sites for theft?

    Yes a little north.
Don't come down anymore on the price it's too cheap already.
What you need is just a little time and exposure.
    I pulled up the map
    http://www.mapquest.com/maps?zipcode=64601
And there it is Polk St.

I guess if you list them on ebay you could put:

"You will need to arrange and pay for shipping.
I will happily work with the selection of the shipper of your choice"

I'd really love to get these to replace my original SDA-2's. I just wish I had a vehicle they'd fit in for the 4 hour drive. Let me check with some friends and see if I can make something happen.
