I just bought the following:

Denon AVR2803
Polk RM6700 with the PSW 303

The talked me inot the MonserBass 400 sub cable with the Y adapter.

I get a VERY muffled bass, almost non exsistent. I have tried ever config, except running the fronts out of the sub. That is going to create a speaker wire mess. Why can't I get the dedicated MonsterBass 400 to produce sound with my PSW 303?

Does the Y connector go into the recv? or the sub? Believe I have tried both. The Denon has a dedicated subwoofer jack so I am completly lost.

Please help!:)

The Y is for the subwoofer if it has a right and left input. You can choose to use it or not. The Y will give you a "boost" in spl.
You also have to set you reciever up properly.
Set speakers to small and subwoofer to YES.
Start with subwoofer gain at -3 or so and raise from thier if needed.
    Set subwoofer volume about 50%.
I think the sub out and the Monster 400 should give you awesome sound.
Their is ALOT to setting up and calibrated a sub - even placement is key.
Thier are many people on this forum to help ya out.
To me the sub is one of the most important speakers and once set up properly will really enhance your sound system.

Wiring the mains threw the sub really only gives your two more wires to deal with (actually only one if you consider that you will remove your sub cable). It's too bad the sales person convinced to get that cable since you may be better off without it. This has been mentioned in numerous posts regarding the 6700's but I will restate it. The 6700's have a built in crossover filter set to 150Hz. Pretty much everything 150Hz and lower has to come out of the sub.

If your 2803 is similar to my 1803 (and I'm guessing it is) the receiver's internal crossover settings are 80, 100 and 120Hz. Even at it's highest setting (120Hz.) there will be a frequency gap in the 120-150Hz. range if you use a sub cable and set all speakers to small.

For the 6700 speaker package Polk recommends running the mains threw the sub. Set the mains to large (all other speakers set to small). Set sub to "off" or "no" at the receiver. Set the receiver's crossover to 80Hz. and turn the sub's crossover up to 150Hz. This will send all LFE signals through the sub.

I have mine set up this way and I think the sound is great for such small speakers.

    Good luck and have fun.
