Remember when Bryer's used to be good? I like all of the usual suspects listed above; Edy's, Blue Bell, B&J's, HD, and many others. Even though Blue Bell makes good ice cream, their commercials drive me crazy sometimes.

Can some more midwesterners chime in here with Graeter's and put this whole argument to rest?
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

There used to be an ice cream parlor in Grant's Pass, Oregon up until the late 1980's that had THE BEST ice cream ever, Period. I think it was called "Steve's Ice Cream", but I don't remember for sure.

For a mass produced brand however (and related to pepster and Tony's discussion) "Ciao Bella" is phenominal!

My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

If anyone has been to the north shore of Massachusetts they may have tried Richardson's Ice Cream. It's a relatively small place that has their own dairy farm and they make the absolute best ice cream. Store bought brands cannot compare. Anyone who may have tried it I am sure will agree.

You are absolutely right! But a close second is the Penn State Creamery. This is where Ben and Jerry learned to make ice cream. http://creamery.psu.edu/

Sounds similar to the place I was talking about. Steve had hos own dairy farm as well where he would get fresh cream and milk daily, and of course make the ice cream fresh daily. Amazingly good stuff!

Oh, Listen here mister. We got no way of understandin' this world. But we got as much sense of this bird flyin in the sky. Now there is a lot that bird don't know, but it don't change the fact that the world is happening to him all the same. What I am tryin to say is, is that the course of your life, well its changing, and you don't even see it- Forest Bondurant
