deoxit is a realy good contact cleaner, safe for most plastics and it's the only brand i will use, you can get it at radio shack, they may have small cotton tipped swabs tooThere is no cure....

oldrocker, are you talking about the plastic binding post cup, or the actual IC cable socket?Home Theater/2 Channel:

not sure what the correct question is but to the original; deoxit as others have said. I had some oxidation in the socket of my SRS's at first and used it. It cleaned up good but I was concerned about other oxidation internally and prompted me to go ahead with crossover mods and check all internal connections and wiring as well.. I did also find some inside the tweeter wiring as well and replaced it too, along with some of the connections on the board. Good luck.If con is the opposite of pro, is Congress the opposite of Progress?!

the sockets

the sockets
I use the D100 brush-on liquid for sockets and connectors. If the sockets are really deep, then the D5 Spray is useful.
BTW, for $20.00, you can buy new Speakon sockets and plugs, and be done with the whole mess.Home Theater/2 Channel:

Thanks,
OK, second wrong question, gotta replace 2 polyswithches and one tweeter in each speaker.
speakers are sds srs's. called polk they have no polyswitches or tweeters available. polk guy said parts express for swithches no idea where to get replacement tweeters and I need 2. any companies you guys know that sell replacement tweeters for these speakers? -
Where to by the speakon sockets and plugs please?westmassguy wrote: »If the socket is really filthy, I'd use some MaxBlow Off or similar contact cleaner first. Let that dry thoroughly, then apply the DeoxIT.

many here replace polyswitches with resistors.. This has worked well for me but I advise researching this and performing this at your own risk and comfort level. direct replacements are not to be had new. Only good used ones found from members or on e-bay etc. I think i have a couple extras if desired i can check to be sure. other than that you can replace all with current polk production RDO-194's. The kicker there is buying 8 at one time.If con is the opposite of pro, is Congress the opposite of Progress?!

Ask here for anyone who has SL2000's to sell and to send you a PM. Ask POLK for the poly switch value or copy what is on yours then go to parts express and ask them if they have that value. They are limited there so beware. I would not replace with after market tweeters either do them all in RDO's or ask here and watch eBay look carefully on ebay as some sell non working tweeters be careful. -
According to the schematics, it should be an RDE-090AHome Theater/2 Channel:

Maybe I missed it but why not buy new 194's? Consensus is they sound much better. I've got 2000's in my RTA8T's. I think they sound pretty good considering the $30 I paid for the speaks on CL. Can't justify spending the $100 for the RDO's. -

I am almost positive that I have 4 perfect SL2000s that I pulled out of my SRS 2's when I replaced them with RD0194s a few years ago. They were functioning fine at the time, and have been in climate control ever since. I'm not at home right now, but when I get there this week, I'll confirm and send a PM.
