Since i will be getting the SR-7400 sometime in December, I want to know the best way to hookup my xbox to it. I have the monster cable component hookup for it already and am using it. I was thinking about getting the optic cable from monster and getting seperate component video cables for output to my t.v. Does this sound good, are there any possible better connections?Sorry if this sounds confusing.:D

Are you refering to the Xbox Monster component video kit sold just for the Xbox? If so, it should already have the fiber optic cable packaged in with it. If so, I would suggest running the optic cable to your receiver and the component cables to your TV, as long as the you have two component inputs on your TV. If not, then using your receiver's component inputs with one output to your TV would be the best way to go, with an added cost in another set of regular component cables, if you do not already have them.

Optic over analog will make a big difference with most games.

The Monster kit is the way to go.You could however buy the XboX component kit and use higher quality cables if you choose.

The digital connection is a must if you have an XboX.There games are dolby digital and sound fantastic. Also the component cable is nessary to see the 480p.There is a couple of games in 1080i.......cool stuff....XboX is great.

    Live is key.

    Hey sup guys,

I was gonna post a question on the same topic actually here soon. I have the microsoft component video kit and I too was wondering if it would be worth replacing them with monster video. When I purchased mine, it was before I had an Hdtv and before i became an audio and video nut. As you can see by my signature, I love xbox and the games that are in progressive scan are very impressive. Gotta love halo! (even though its not in progressive scan) Still best game out there on the box.
Welp anyone with their opinions please tell me what ya think.

    Thanks

Mantis, I will look for you after x-mas. I just bought the kiddies the xbox today, and I will be getting xbox live after I get some xmas money.

How is Mech Assault. It looks like a lot of fun, and it looks to be killer when playing live.

I bought the XBOX High Definition AV Pack. It did not come with the component video or optic cable. I have it connected to my receiver with the component video and optical cable purchased separately. The games can be played in Hi definition if supported and every game can use Dolby digital surround I think with the optical cable. You have to enable Dolby and high def in the system console.

I'm also using the component video kit from Microsoft. I replaced the crappy component cable that came with it with Monster component cable. I think replacing the cable should be cheaper than buying the Monster kit.

    Avelanchefan,

You need to use your computer to trick your xbox into thinking its running in system link by using a program called xbox connect. Go to www.xbconnect.com. The program is pretty simple to use, only requires that your pc is somewhat close to your xbox i guess. Runs pretty smooth if you play on a nice host somewhat close to your house, within a state or 2, and if you have a decent broadband connection. Im addicting to playing on there haha....if you happen to get on look for the name [{L}]-Gringo, i can help you out with any questions you might have...oh by the way you also need to have your xbox plugged into the same router your computer is in.

Is it a pretty awesome game? I was gonna get it, it was a toss up between that and Need for Speed Underground. I ended up getting underground because my nephew was home from georgia, and he loves video games and that one appealed to him more. But im happy with his pick, its a great game, extremely good looks.

actuley i do like the need for speed games alot it is all about speed i have the last game i forgot the title. but i do like the PGR 2 for a little different style of raceing game it adds style points to the race. but it is not as fast but you get more changles like style chalnge where you have to get style points to pass the test. and passing changles where you have to pass a certan amount of cars. very fun.

Sounds pretty awesome, Have you ever played Grand Tourismo 3 for ps2. That game is an amazing game. Reminds me a lot of PG2 becuase its more of a realistic game that nfs underground. You need a degree in Physics just to learn how to master driving in that game. Really fun none-the-less.

You can find me online under "Damocles" my old GamerTag before TonyPTX came around...I beta tested for microsoft and have been using Live since early August 2002. Kick A$$ service for a kick a$$ console.

I've been addicted to PGR2 and GTA 3 as of late...PGR2 is much easier to earn those Kudos points compaired to PGR. I like the cars and the showroom much better too..

See you guys on the race track...
