BP8080 full 5.2 system.
Just so everyone knows , this system from Definitive Technology has earned a place in my "All time favorite Theater systems" list.
When I get some more time , I'll post a review or a experience I had with a system that really impressed me more so then in the past with other gear with them. You can go read DK's thread on Cardas and Audioquest internal wiring , I left a short review in there as it was relative some what to his on going thread.

Ran the 8080center with my Mythos ST towers and loved it.

Long over due review of this system.
I have done many 8080 systems with Integra gear and thought they where very nice sounding speakers. Excellent lower end extension with very nice room filling bass. I have been back to peoples houses for a tune up , ISF calibration and thought , what a nice system. Never once did I feel that I would even consider replacing my Mythos system with them as I have always felt the BP series was a step down for music reproduction.
My Opinion has changed since then.
With the Pioneer Elite SC-68 and Cardas Crosslink speaker wire for the entire system , I noticed some magic happening. After a complete Install , calibration and demoing , I felt they absolutely sounded their best but the sub's where a bit out of control. I ran MCACC a few times and decided to tweak myself with SPL and a good listening.
Went back after a few weeks , customer really used the system a lot and just was tickled pink with it. Here's whats funny , He replaced his system with a full Polk audio RT system including the Rt1000p's as mains , CS400 center and FX/500's surrounds. He even had a PSW650 sub , WOW it was my exact system I owned minus the RT35's I had for surround back.
So I was there for calibration and tweaking , noticed that the subs where not going crazy before I calibrated. I asked him if he touched any of my settings and warned him as thats a huge NO NO , he said he didn't and the system just sounds better evertime he uses it. OK speakers are loosing up and breaking in but this time it was dramatic. The subs where really boomy and overly powerful original Install and now they blend in and even seem a bit weak. On original Install , I had to lower the subs out of calibration as they called to much attention to themselves. I recalibrated and sat down to listen to some cuts.
I always bring my Macbook pro which has a nice amount of Computer music. I also have a Cardas 2m USB cable in the bag for Demo purposes. Ran a few songs and was blown away how well the BP8080ST's sounded in 2 channel. WOW I'm starting to reconsider my Mythos ST's as they don't fill the room as well as the Bipolar models do. They also don't have the same amount of weight on the lower bottom end. The sub's in the 8080's seem more powerful then the Mythos STs. On a side note , I never been unhappy with my bass performance and never once thought about adding a dedicated sub. I did however for a second think about buying a Velodyne DD12 or 2 of them but in my room it would be way over kill. The ST's do their jobs extremely well.
After being blown away by music , I decided it was movie time. Only movie I needed to blow me away was Avengers. The Mountain top battle with Thor and Ironman was simply breath taking. The Detail and smoothness of the entire system was amazing. Let me take a second to point out that the system was a full BP8080 system in 5.2. The CS8080 center channel is down right incredible , this is something I wanted to try out a long time ago but I really enjoy the balance that the Mythos ST and Mythos 10 have , not to mention I also have the Mythos 10's as surround speakers. I'm adding Mythos Gem XL's as front heights but thats another review in itself. The Surrounds are bipolar in the 8080's and really bring everything together well. There is NO gaps in sound or movement flaws that I hear on other systems. They make the room one full sound environment.
During the demo , I kept watching the movie and went to the final battle. You can hear every single spec of dust , every clang and clung . You feel the system pull you right into the action . With the SC-68 as the helm , this speaker package is down right fantastic. They compliment each other so well I think this is my favorite system of the year so far. I actually liked it better then the SC-68 and Focal system I did.
Whats still shocking about this system is it's uncanny balance. It's so damn balanced and clear. Sometimes we don't go back for another calibration as some customers don't care as much about the final detail in their system. They are simply happy to have it and just want to enjoy it. If there is a problem or they don't understand something about operation , they will have us back. Most others take advantage of a recalibration after break in especially on the video side.
I didn't snap any good pic's as though I should have as this system was wonderful and from now on any BP system is getting spec'd with a SC model Pioneer Elite. They just go together so well and really make for a balanced sounding system. The Integra jobs also went well but didn't suck you in , they have loud and dynamic but not warm and inviting. I believe this is the difference when specing a system is balance. Having everything fall into place is heaven.Dan

Excellent write up Dan. It sounds like you were smitten by the overall performance for both HT & 2 channel music. Do you think that the room had a lot to do with it also? But it sounds the Pio & Cardas combo really jelled together. I've always wanted to give DefTec a try. When it's time for a change I'll definitely have them on top of my list for sure. Question for you, would the ProMonitor 1000 speakers that I have be a good match for the BP line? If so that would make for a rather smooth transition. Just thinking out loud here, my KEF system is by no means going anywhere soon."2 Channel & 11.2 HT "Two Channel:Magnepan LRSSchiit Audio Freya S - SS preConsonance Ref 50 - Tube preParasound HALO A21+ 2 channel ampBluesound NODE 2i streameriFi NEO iDSD DAC Oppo BDP-93KEF KC62 sub Home Theater:Full blown 11.2 set up.

All Def Tech speakers have a certain sonic signature. Like polk does to a point , you can mix and match a bit. The Pro Monitors will go with the BP series much better then the Kef's do. They have a very different sonic signature. I didn't listen to enough movie cuts to really hear a difference in your system but if I brought over a pair of BP8080ST's , you might not want me to take them back , actually you might pull the Possession card on me. They are pretty fantastic speakers.
The Room actually sucked ****. Hard wood floors , poor placement of the system and seating location , weird ceiling detail , extra wide surround placement but it still made all that magic regardless after my intense Calibration.
The Intergration with Cardas and Pioneer Elite really is something special. I have so much respect(long overdue I guess) for Cardas. I didn't really think they where anything special until I really started demoing them for myself. I even own a few pair of IC's and never thought they improved anything in my system when Installing them and taking out my AudioQuest IC's. For the money I felt they where a bit expensive for no sonic gain over Audioquest. But it does say a lot for the brand as they don't sound worse or do any weird things to the sound. It's like they just pass whats there and does it correct. I think thats why it's so difficult to hear differences against other cables that also do everything right. It's where I'm at with cables , once you achieve the goal , nothing more can be done. Your wasting your money on higher priced cables as found cables already do the job right. I'm sure many people who have been testing cables as long as I have came to this conclusion .Dan

I own an 11.2 Definitive Home theater and couldn't be happier with my purchase. I will also try to post a review in the future.
