I am getting conflicting advice. Can the RTI100 be bi wired? If not , then why not. Thanks. I ran two sets of wire, removed the jumper and thought I was wired. I think it sounds better this way, but others say you cant technically bi wire these speakers?

    From the Polk description:
"Dual 5-way binding posts (1 set for subwoofer input, 1 for mid/high array."

Traditional Polk bi-wiring for non-powered speakers splits the tweeter and mid-woofer inputs. Here you are splitting out the feed to the powered sub-woofer. So no, you are not bi-wiring in the sense that most here mean.

That said, if it sounds better to you... great... enjoy.

BTW... In other speaker lines the bi-wire division is between a non-powered woofer and the mid-range/ tweeter combo.

So why the dual 5 way posts? I guess I am defeating my purpose. I have seen others on this sight who say they have bi wired them also. Oh well, makes me rethink my whole logic behind it. Thanks for the reply.

If the sound has improved to your ears then the " Tweak" is worth the effort. If it is truely a Bi-wired speaker doesnt matter as much as the result. You are providing the recever two paths One to put the power into the mid/high and One for hte Sub signal. Since it works for you keep it and enjoy the improved performance of your gear and dont look back.

I guess I am just confused as to why the dual binding posts?? Why not have just one set? I understand that polk recommends wiring them with the speaker level connections so why add line level inputs also. Seems like it would just add to confusion.

    Hey Jeff,

I think a lot of old receivers (late 80's, early 90's) didn't have a sub line level output. So people used speaker level to incorporate their sub's.

Also could simply be a cost consideration. Using dual posts in all models simplifies parts stocking.

Good point Tour I would also say it is for prefrence some may like hte sound better with the sub in and some may like it with the spk line in and some with 2 spk line ins. All In your taste.
