Hi folks, is it ok to attach my SDA CRS+'s to an HK 730? And how about a Marantz 2245? I'm using the original interconnect on the speakers. Just trying to play it safe with this vintage gear. Thanks!

I'd say yes. A separate amp is always going to make em sing a lot better and some here swear by the tube amps, so just enjoy and upgrade as you go. The SDA effect is in a class all by itself and I sure love mine. I had the CRS+ set for a while and they are a great little speaker! BTW, welcome to the forum, It's a great one!

    1. Are the amplifier sections common-ground?

    2. Are they rated to drive a 4-ohm nominal load?

    2245: Probably.
HK730: I don't know. It's twin powered, dual mono. This is really my main question. I was hoping someone might have experience with this particular pairing of amp and speakers.

Barely, and barely. But yes. And the owner's manual for the CRS+ states a nominal impedance of 6 ohms, not 4.

Like separates, it all depends on the quality. There are integrated amps that are better than separates and vice versa. That said, integrated's or separates are better than receivers.

Dual mono would indicate that it is non-common ground and therefore cannot be used with your SDA's unless you use the AI-1.

I am using a Harman Kardon 730 'Twin Powered' with a pair of SDA CRS+'s in the bedroom set-up for the last month and a half and it sounds amazing. I guess I got lucky and didn't even think to check the common ground issue before hooking them up. 40 Watts have never sounded so good, at least not in my home. I'll admit I am in love with that contour button, HK's equivalent to a loudness button that tapers away as the volume is turned up. Contour keeps it sounding full and rich when the volume is down low. At some point I'll have to replace bulbs as most of them are burned out but for now she works and works well and that's enough for me. I'll post a picture soon.
