PSW110 powered sub crackles

I'm very new to home audio, so please forgive any ignorance. I have a powered sub hooked up by a single RCA cable to my receiver (as instructed by the user manual) and the filter knob to LFE. It has worked without a problem for a couple years, at least I haven't noticed an issue. Now, when I began playing a record on my turntable, which is connected to my receiver via a phono pre-amp. I've checked all connections and it all seems snug. I don't have a space RCA cable to try replacing my existing one with, so that's still an option. The crackling doesn't seem to get louder or lower when I adjust the volume. I tried to switch to a different input on my receiver (my Xbox over hdmi) and the same issue is present, but when you're not right next to the sub, it's difficult to hear the problem. Can anyone help with some troubleshooting?

Sounds like the amp on your sub it going out. Maybe clean the controls on the sub. Try another sub.POLK SDA 2.3 TLS BOUGHT NEW IN 1990, Gimpod/Sonic Caps/Mills RDO-198

Hello rms2219,
Welcome to the forum. When checking out a subwoofer I find it easiest if only the sub itself is being played. To do this remove the sub-cable from the back of the receiver and connect it to any high level source. For example if you have a DVD/CD player connect your sub-cable to either the right or left audio output on the player with the sub's volume turned all the way down. Then with a CD playing slowly turn up the volume on the sub, there should be plenty of undistorted bass at a moderate volume setting.

My PSW110 is having the same exact issue, I have email support and suggested that I remove the amp part of the sub and mail it in. A little surprised I did not get a support ticket but will follow the persons instructions.
What was the resolution to your issue rms2219?
