Does anyone here onw one of these?
Thoughts or opinions welcome.
I am considering one used for $350. Would that be a good deal?

Thanks
Keith

Seems like a good price according to the A'gon bluebook. I have never heard or seen one so I can't comment on the unit itself.
If you can't hear a difference, don't waste your money.

I believe geppy1 here on the board had one. Try sending him a PM. Just as a side note I have two Anthem Amp-2SEs, an Amp-1, and a Pre-1L and I love all of them. They are very well built and have great sound quality.

I think if you get one cheap you will love it, Anthems not the highest end gear on the market but I found its tremendous value for money. I love Anthem amps as they have a real sweet high frequency response but not too revealing. I find they all have a similar sound in the line, from the mrx's ht receivers to the preamps and amps. Anthem is a make everyone happy brand and a good mix that should satisfy/please all but the hyper critical

P-farmboy is right. In general most Anthems have a very pleasing sound, on the warmer side of things. I can't imagine them making anything that sounds less than good!

As for price. I have no idea what that is worth! But it doesn't sound like too much, to me.

It's a good price for a nice sounding Integrated. For the money it's going to be hard to beat but I feel Cambridge and NAD both make a better sounding unit. if you can gind one of those at that price , I suggest looking there. Sound quality is subjective but I thought it was the worse out of the 3 I tested. I did a 3 way shootout which I believe I posted in here years ago. Look for it.

So if I end up buying this, would it be a good idea to change out the factory tubes?

Maybe, maybe not. Nothing like hearing for yourself.

So I picked this up this week. I was able to test it before I bought it and it did not work, entirely. The preamp section did not work but the amplifier did. I got it for a much better price and I am hoping that it just needs tubes to get her running. Now the question, what tubes should I buy?

Is there a way for me to test the tubes that are currently in the unit?

I am relatively new to tube audio. Is 6922 or 6DJ8 the size of the tube?

Its the type of tube, I would put some amperex bugle boys in there

Should I assume that these tubes would glow and get hot if they were working?

    Yes you should

So either the tubes are bad or I am missing something else that is preventing the preamp section from working...

I am not sure about the functions of that but they should get hot unless you can switch between tube and solid state. I think if you look at the tubes you can tell if they are shot by the color as they turn a nasty black color and all that mercury silvery stuff at the tops just totally evaporated or burned away

I am able to run a signal in to the amplifier in and get sound, but nothing using it as an integrated.

By your desription the tubes appear to be ok.

I would get in touch with anthem and ask about it. Have you checked inside for loose wiring or maybe even some blown fuses as tube equipment can blow fuses very easily if powered up and down too many times without the tubes being able to cool. This happened to me on a tube integrated amp and it turned out to be a super easy fast fix so check into that stuff before going going further

I have not had the time to really dig into it yet. I will check to see if there are any blown fuses and then reach out to Anthem or Parts Connexion.

If the amps working and the tube sections not them its very possible that its the fuse

Thanks for the tip. I did find the fuse and that was ok. Without it I got no power. With it, amp section works fine but it still does not function as an integrated.
