OH H...you do realize it defeats the premise of the ignore function when you go back and read it anyway right:idea:...funny little man.
Cool entry amp by the way. Would have liked to hear it.Too much **** to list.... -
Mods please mark this sold.
There are tubes still for sale, but I'll start a new thread.
H9"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Differentiation by numbers is for those who do not".--Nelson Pass Pass Labs XA25 | EE Avant Pre | EE Mini Max Supreme DAC | MIT Shotgun S1 | Pangea AC14SE MKII | Legend L600 | BlueSound Node 3 - Tubes add soul! -
Wait...did I win? I didn't read all the soap opera posts, I just want a Norh tube amp!

Nope, it went to Assimilated."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963) -

He beat you to it. I'm sure if you pm'd him your interest if it doesn't meet his needs you can be first in line.

H9, what are your recommendations for 12ax7 to run in this? I've been looking at the Gold Lion and they seem to be well liked. They're not absurdly expensive, but a little of an investment at around $50 each, any other recommendations, maybe even something a little cheaper?

In the interest of clarity, *I* was the person who made the crack about the amp getting parted out via PM. That whole incident was, shall I say, 'memorable' to me and probably a few others. Nor have I missed out on the fact that you like to take potshots at H9 whenever the opportunity presents itself, even in threads he's not participating in. And frankly, I was floored that you would be so bold as to jump on a FS thread he made, given the acrimonious history.
If I knew you, I'd probably think you're an alright dude--I've seen how you've been working to help out a Polkie this week and that's cool of you and of all who chipped in. On the other hand, I would like to see you scale back on what comes off as over-defensiveness and paranoia at times. You've committed no unforgivable sins, I doubt anyone has a permanent grudge against you, so why not let the past flow into the past and stop with the periodic attacks? No one's out to get you, to embarrass you, to call you out for anything publicly. That's why I PM'd my crack to H9 instead of posting it in this thread.
Anywho, you can consider it 'put on the table', I chimed in as you asked.
Jay
Huh?
Just wondering what you have to do with someone parting out their speakers?
From the beginning of this forum there has been "parts" available?
Care to explain why SDA's are any different?
I would like to hear about that, please pm me.........
Ha!
I completely understand you wanting to sell to who you wish Brock.
Completely, and I am the same way.
That said I would not call Dan someone that is "bad" to deal with or "hard headed" either.
I have dealt with him many, many times with nothing but excellent results.
I can highly recommend him, Great Polkie!
Just my personal experience dealing with him on many occasions.
Have you ever done a deal with him Brock?:redface:Testing

I really don't like new production tubes, just my preference, I know others swear by certain new production tubes.
My favorites are 12AX7/ECC83 and equivalents
Heerlen Holland made large halo ECC83 from the early 60's
RCA black plate with square or horse shoe getter from the late 50's
Valvo (made in Hamburg) short plate with 45* slant getter ECC83 early 1960's; long plate too, but expensive.
Mullard Long plate ECC83 1959-1960 (pricey)
Sylvania Gold Brand (GB) 3 mica black plate 5751
Raytheon red or yellow label 12AX7 or the pricier 5751 blackplates w/square getter.
