couldn't pull the trigger, came home empty handed. started thinking that if I was going to spend $300 plus dollars I might as well get the new OPPO I want. I will probably get more enjoyment in the long run from it. But it is only wednesday lol.

I agree. I think someone said that earlier in the thread, somewhere around post #8.

But being more realistic I'd say next year this time unless you plan on camping out days ahead.

As a severely pro-PS3 person, easy with the "near reference" comment on the BD player. It's no better than a standard $100 BD now days. I just added a Sony 790 BD player to my theater and it stomps the PS3 like a red headed step child, and is only $250 full retail. I can imagine what a real reference player would look like.
Actually, the PS3 rates pretty highly as a blu-ray player, and has dead-on frequency response as far as the HDMI output goes. It just doesn't come close for standard DVDs, which is why most don't consider it a reference player.

Not that I care, 'cause I have an Oppo BDP-93.

I have the OPPO 83 and keep looking into the new OPPO than I can drop the Sony I'm using for 3D and have an all in one. cause the OPPO by far has a better picture.

And no I still don't have a gaming system, The day is young. Although I did read that the PS3 does 3D after I was told it did not and that the PS4 will. so if I was to get the PS3 I could pull my Sony 3D player out that is a few years old.

I have way over thought this!!! last time i put this much time into upgrading it took 3 years to buy a new AVR lol

XBox seems to have a better gaming database and more comfortable (at least to me) controllers. On the other hand, PS3 plays blu-rays, supports 95% of movies on my computer (vs ~50-60% with 360), has Netflix (not sure if new 360 has it). I think all in all, PS3 is more home theater friendly than 360, especially if you'll get a Harmony adapter for it, like I did when I had one. Also, PS3 is "infinitely" upgradable, compared to stand-alone blu-ray players, so it now supports latest 5.1/1080p Netflix (and my Oppo 93 doesn't!).
    Panasonic PT-AE4000U projector for movies
Carada 106" Precision Series (Classic Cinema White)
    Denon AVR-X3600H pre/pro
    Outlaw 770 7-channel amplifier

    B&W CDM-CNT center
    B&W CDM1 rears on MoPADs
    JBL SP8CII in-ceiling height speakers
    Samsung DTB-H260F OTA HDTV tuner
    DUAL NHT SubTwo subwoofers
    Oppo BDP-93 Blu-Ray player
    Belkin PF60 Power Center
Harmony 1100 RF remote with RF extender
Sony XBR-X950G 55" 4K HDR Smart TV + PS3 in the living room

I have a PS3, but I'm NOT a gamer. Very little interest there. My 15 year old daughter deals with that!

But, from what I hear, most gamers prefer the (SE)X-BOX! Gee, I wonder why?

Sorry I couldn't help myself. I mean, come on, who calls their PRODUCT an X-BOX and doesn't expect to get razed about it?

As of late it has been getting called that with the addition of the net browser app that I'm sure many parents are not aware of. Basically you can use to xbox to now surf **** under the radar from restricted home computers that have a browser filter
