Two Center Channels

Has or does anybody use two center channel speakers above and below each other? I have a CS2 mounted below the screen at listening height now. I have a CS1 that I'm not using for anything and was going to mount it above the screen. I was just wondering if anyone has tried installing them this way.

Should work well; but you'll never know until you try it. ;) How would you power it?

For a test I would just run them in a series unless that would be the wrong move and they should be ran in parallel ? For power.......I am currently in the process of deciding what amp to get. More than likely it will be a 3 channel for the front and let the avr do the rest.

Why do you want to run dual center channels?

I've run dual center channels, first with CSi40's and now with LSiC's. Running them stacked or one below and one above the screen does allow you to focus one on a close sitting position and one on a couch further back. I've had the best luck with increasing clarity and dispersion of the center channel by running them side-by-side. There's a very substantial improvement in my HT from going from a single LSiC to side-by-side LSiC's.

Nothing wrong with running 2 centers, but....you should have 2 of the same centers or it's going to sound funky. Sell the cs1 and pick up another cs2 or upgrade one.

Using two center channelspeakers can alleviate the problem created if you don't have the perfect place for a single center speaker.

No particular reason other than the discovery if it can be done in a positive manner.

I ran 2x CS350LS side by side powered by a Carver TFM-35 in stereo with the signal split between the receiver and the amp for a while. really liked it but i've had a driver go bad so now im back to just one, but bridged in mono.

I have been monkeying around with centers every since I installed my SDA's as fronts, had a lot of combinations. Just yesterday I went back to my Polk CSI5 below the tv, with the big flat side up so it gives me a nice little table to keep the DVD/CD cases on, and another center mounted in the cabinet above the tv. They are both 8 ohms but the top one runs 3db higher efficiency using 2 5.25 woofers and a horn tweeter complements of the boys down in Hope Arkansas. The big CSI5 uses 2 6.5 woofers and a silk dome tweeter and by itself is not a bad match for the SDA's. I just split the power feed from the amp by splicing and they are sharing one channel at 200 watts. When I change out my XPA-5 I will at least re-wire the two centers.

Lukewayne, have you tried running the single center channel speaker not_ bridged?
