Has anyone experience with some of the newer products from Wright Audio? I know some members have older stuff by them that is good, and it seems like they are still putting out some nice gear for decent prices.

I'm not a fan of the inputs on the front with the speaker outputs on the back, however, this thing is beautiful and wonder if it sounds as good as it looks.

The pre amp looks interesting as well.

You know what they call a quarter pounder in France?

    Sorry...couldn't resist!

I have a friend who has that exact same amp. And he absolutely adores it. He must love it because he said the ONLY thing he doesn't like about it is the shiny parts show fingerprints so his wife always knows when he has been fondling his amp.
As far as sound, well...it sounds like a quality tube amp. I know that is rather generic but that pretty much sums it up. Hehe.

If I could get a good price on one (or my wife wouldn't kill me for bringing more gear home), I would pick one up without hesitation.

funny, they give this warning about using other tubes in their amps and then go and use one of the most unreliable tube manufacturers.

    (1) 6N1P (Balanced Sections) and (1) 5AR4 - $ 35
    JJ KT77 Matched Pair - $ 45
    JJ 6CA7 Matched Pair - $ 42
    Matched Pair Reproduction Tung Sol EL34B - $ 58

    Use of Tubes Not Approved

Single-ended amplifiers require tubes of the highest quality for amplifier reliability. Sadly, there are good-sounding tubes which may be used in push-pull amplifier designs but are not suitable for use in any single-ended amplifiers. Using them will cause the tubes to fail prematurely and likely cause damage to the amplifier.

Use only tubes recommended by Wright Audio. Evidence of the contrary causing damage to an amplifier is not covered by the Warranty.

I hear you on the inconvenience. It is usually done to keep the signal path short to the input tubes. If the inputs were at the rear, routing and shielding of the wiring to the input tubes would be important to prevent noise passing all the high voltage circuits/output trannies. I had a tube amp with front inputs. The folks that got the rear inputs (same amp) complained of a high noise floor.

hmm I have nothing I could really run on this but the thought would be nice to try out someday a high eff. speaker combo with an amp like this.

Only thing I know of for super high eff. is mostly horn stuff like Klipsch etc. I think there are a few drivers out there but nothing that I know of.
