Favorite Preamps - Best BANG for the $$$

....how about a budget (USED) of under $300.00. Also my Godchild is looking for a preamp for under $150.00. The Kenwood Basic c2 is the cheapest pre I could recommend. You can find the Carver C-1 for that price that is a little beat. What are your thoughts on these?

I am still using my Pro10MC from B&K. Still luv it in passive mode......Maggies MG I's. Amp Musical Fidelity.

I used to have a nice Yamaha pre. I don't know what model so I'm no help, but it was clean.

DIY Pass DCB1. Beat out my Adcom GFP-750 and Dared SL2000a (stock tubes).
