Knowing how to match Timber???
I'm looking for a center speaker to match my Boston Acoustic VR-975 towers. How does one find a timber matching speaker?

Typically you try to get something in the same series. If not then looks for something that has the same tonal quality. ie: Bright, harsh, detailed, subdued, etcHT Rig Samsung 64F8500 |Pioneer Elite BDP-52FD|Pioneer Elite VSX-32| Two Carver TFM-15cb Bridged for mains|Polk Audio RTiA5 Cherry|Polk Audio CsiA6 Cherry|Polk Audio T-15 Heights|Polk Audio FXia6 Surround|DIY 8cuft Dayton Ultimax 15" powered with a Crown XLS1000

The best/easiest thing to do is ask the cs department of the manufacturer. Otherwise, you would try to match the tweeters, lastly trial and error.

The VR 975's had a matching center channel , I'd suggest a search for it. I don't recall off hand the model number. You can also call Boston Acoustics and find out if they have something offered today that would match correctly.Dan
My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time.
