Another question on TVs

A friend of mine got an RCA Scenium 65" DLP. It's pretty neat - the PQ is as good as Samsung DLPs on DVDs. On cable TV channels, the PQ was alright.
Samsung has a 61" DLP TV also. I think so far Samsung, RCA and Zenith are the major TV makers that have DLP TVs in the market. Sony, Panasonic, Hitachi and Toshiba have yet to get their DLPs out. -
sach,
It's gonna take a long time for the "Sony 50" Grand WEGA LCD Rear Projection TV KF-50WE610" to come in. We've got over 30 on "special order" in this area alone. It is a very sought after model. -
Sach,
What did you finally go with? -
I have a new TV I got before Christmas 2003, its the Sony KDF-70XBR950.
the 70" screen is great!!
HDTV is breath taking.
Now, some will say spending $6599.99 is way to much for TV, just go to CC and take a look; thats what I did and two weeks later its in the house.
p.s its all hooked up to my Pioneer 49TXi (Life is good)

Has anyone heard any problems with the XBR tubes? I understand that they need replacement every 6000 hours or 2-3 years?
-
If there's any tube that needs replacing every 2-3 years, there's something DESPERATELY wrong......comment comment comment comment. bitchy.

That is what the XBR Grand Wega pamphlets claim.
-
Well, to be more precise, they are "Ultra High Pressure Lamps".

I have a Mitsubishi 40" tube tv that I've had for about 7 years. Tubes shouldn't ever die within a 2-3 year time frame, so I'm a bit curious as to why they'd be indicating that theirs needs replacing that often. That's the case with the bulbs in projections though......comment comment comment comment. bitchy.

You are talking about a CRT Television, I believe. I am referring to a RP LCD, the 60" & 70" XBR Grand Wega. And yes, just like DLP they do have to have the lamp replaced.
