Well my brother in Arkansas, that bought my Dad's SDA's years ago. Just bought some Def Tech towers and offered the 1c's to me for $200. He is only 10 hours away. :frown: And I can not get out there, no time due to a new job. I need some pony express help damnit! lol

Oh well maybe I will be able to get out there this summer.

Be careful when transporting them!!! I just the learned the hard way that the glue holding the speaker magnet in place becomes brittle over time and are easily shifted leaving you with frozen drivers. There is something called the epoxy treatment that can be used to prevent this. Maybe someone can chime in on what exactly the epoxy treatment is. I currently have three frozen drivers that require fixing or replacing. I am going to try the fixing part first.

Yes always transport them laying on their back, he knows.
Pull them and get the MW 65xx number off of them!
    Let's see what you have.
It may be too late to save them but the treatment is called JB Weld.

Good luck on repair? What happened did you bump or drop them?
I try to stay with originals but ebay is kinda dry right now.
The new drivers from Polk look a little different than the originals as the voice coil wires don't show.
Call Helen Yarborgh 1-800-377-7655 tell her you are a Club Polk member, she is very nice and helpful been there since
    the SDA glory days.
I have heard pro and cons about them, just be sure the rubber surround doesn't bind around the screws
when you are doing the replacement a careful trim around the holes is advised.

Get the SDA Handbook it's great.

If they not studios and in good shape tell your boss your sick with the Ebola virus, your house burnt down, your dog got trampled by an elephant, your sister ran off with an elf, whatever works but go get those puppy's. Of course you could beg your brother to bring them to you. maybe offer him a manly wrap around.

gimp...a manly wrap around??? lol Thanks bored184 for the tips! And welcome to Club Polk! Gimp, if memory serves, they are not studios.

My other issue with getting these is just having transportation to get out there and back. I have flown out there to visit family in the past. I've got a pretty old Ford pickup now. I really do not trust it to make the trip. I am wondering what shipping them would be back to Georgia. Might have to sell my beloved strat to fund that endeavor.

I would shop around for a rental car or small minivan, (might check with a local auto dealer, they will sometimes rent a car for MUCH less cost than a Rental Company) this "could" still be less expensive than shipping, be easier on your 1C's, and you could make the trip in a weekend.

yeah, there is always the money issue. Gas alone will probably be $200.

Good thing is family has them and you know they are not going anywhere.

Thanks PolkieMan! To be honest I don't know what happened. There were resting on blankets with the drivers facing up on the way home. The drive itself was rather smooth on the way home. They could of been like that when I bought them, but I am not sure.

Rent a Hatchback with the back seat folded down both SDA1c lying on their backs fit in my car.
30+ MPG, 600 miles, 20 gals of gas at 3.20 gal so that's like $64 in gas + rental fee, who knows?
