Looks like a pretty common problem with Yamaha. Just google ''SP wires'' and half dozen threads come up with info you need.

ya ive tried that, looked to see if any wires were touching receiver , looked to see if any wires touched @ speaker poles, i know its not getting hot becuase i have a fan on the top of it that i keep running while its at a decent volume, cany really think of any explanation other that the l/r speakers being 8ohm and the center also an 8, but without a tweeter would that fluxuate the resistance someonething different than the 8 causing different power draws and having the reciever thinking it is getting shorted out? only happend at about -20db but would rather it not happen at all..

a center channel without a tweeter, that i took out becuase it was blown. but does this mean the crossover may be damaged as well? like i said it only happens on very high volumes ... :/
