I gotta say, I got a silly cheap amp that is "described" as "Tube Like"

    Just wondering if it is?

I hate to mention it because of the flak I may receive!
I will give you a hint however, HK (old), and pretty sweet.
Has been described as "tube like" on several occasions.

    You think its possible?

    SS........Tubelike?

There's different degrees of that tube like sound. Just like there is for SS. Some amps that portray a more musical warm sound are considered tube like, but not really all the way there. Once you get your ears on good tubed gear, it's pretty hard to accept anything less after that.

I had a B&K ST-202+ that was somewhat tube like in it's presentation. Like Tony was saying not quite all the way there, but leaning more towards tube sound than most solid state. That was a great amp.

I thought tube like is just used describe it as not being so sterile as most ss equipment does have a sterile clinical sound
