I have bad news guys unfortunately...

All of the plates have some minor abrasions, in a bad way. I am contacting the CNC shop to see what our options are here.

Please stand by and I apologize for my excitement posting of the picture...

On that token though - if everyone who ordered a set of plates would enlarge that picture and look closely at it you can see these abrasions I am talking about, it is only visible at certain angles.

Please let me know your thoughts.

How do you enlarge the picture?

You should be able to click on it, then click again to take it to a larger screen.

Let me know if that does not work.

I would say if you are looking straight ahead the plates are fine, it is when you look at them from an angle.

I sent the above pictures to the CNC shop and I will keep everyone posted.

Thank you for your understanding in advance!

    Trey,

I looked at the pictures and saw what I would call a couple of scratches and a general appearance of a brushed surface.

Were the abrasions in the sheet stock, or were they caused by the fabrication process at the CNC shop?

Assuming the abrasions to which you refer are not the general appearance of a brushed surface, can the abrasions be polished or buffed out without damaging the rest of the plate?

Are all the plates abraded in the same way?

It is pretty hard to see any severe abrasions in the photos.

I would be inclined to go with your judgement: "Are they a product of which you can be proud?"

It looks like poor quality, didn't care, work. It's a dirty shame that those in charge of the order have such low standards. If they were making them for GM or Toyota they sure wouldn't look like this. I will defer to your judgement as to acceptance or not. Mike

Trey, I will let you get everything squared away before bugging you for one.

Also interested to see what the machine shop does to make it right and whether or not you will end up with a stack of "scratch and dents" to sell at a reduced price. ;)

Personally, I agree with the "they should make it right sentiment" but also have no problem owning a set of the scratched ones as I tend to not really look behind my speakers all too often once they are set. Hehe.

    Trey,

Plates look sick buddy. I agree the defects are poor and should have been remade based on what you would assume to be good quality procedures the CNC shop follows. The plates should be flawless.

Alright guys... Official word down the pipeline here!

I will have in my possession in the next 10 days a new batch of plates. The plates I have in my possession now will most likely be sold as scratch and dents.

what I ask of everyone is that if you are interested in the scratch and dents to -please- not PM me or post here in regards to these plates. I will make a separate thread in regards to those plates. Let me figure out how I need to handle these.

from there, thank you all for the compliments on the plates and your understanding of the issues.

I will keep everyone posted on anything related to this thread in this thread.

    thank you very much!

    Trey :]
