I got a little Kenwood vr-615 the other day from Good Will for $15.Now this is just being used for a minor system
in my bdrm.Even though originally it was a cheapo HTIB deal I am just using it for 2 channel radio. The problem is when I plug in my headphones they work but the main speakers do not cut off which is a feature I would want and I am
used to.Now that the unit was so cheap and all other features work I was just wondering if this a used item defect
or part and parcel w/ this unit.

Some units do not disconnect main speakers when headphones are plugged in, that's all.
If you can't hear a difference, don't waste your money.

Good point. If there are A/B speaker buttons on the front you probably have to disengage the speakers when you use the HPs. I have a few year old Yamaha integrated that "requires" this (not that old at all). I just push the A button so that it is in the off position when I use the HPs. I know that's less convenient than my Onkyo where the HP automatically deactivates the speakers. But hey, what can you do?
