Looking for something under $1,700? (Not sure if that's doable)
I ordered my 60" GT50 for $1799 right before Christmas. Not much out of your range (price has since gone up some). It is one of my best investments so far.AVR: Pioneer Elite SC-67

Picked up a 65VT50 3 weeks ago. Love the single sheet of glass design. Looks really slick
Did the 150+ hrs of break in with color slides and calibrated using D-Nice's settings.
This was my first plasma. I've had 2 LCDs prior. I can't believe how natural, smooth, and realistic the colors are compared to LCDs. In a completely dark room, blurays look absolutely stunning.
I have three windows surrounding the plasma so I was worried that the room would be too bright for the plasma during the day, but it's not bad at all and completely watchable. -

Panasonic 55" VT50 for 1550(ish). I just ordered one, who's next?
The price fluctuates often.
Ordered Saturday, received today. Pretty quick, especially considering Monday was a holiday.
Wow.
This is the best screen I've owned. It was between the 55" VT50 and the 60"GT50. For a while, those sets cost about the same (1800ish) so I thought I'd go with the bigger one, but now that you can get a 55" VT for 1500ish, I went that way instead to save 300 bucks and get a few extra features.
I'm running D'nice's Panel Prep Slides now. (I put in his settings straight outta the box just to check it out real quick, and it was a huge improvement over the stock settings already, so things should just get better after 100 hours of panel prep.
The "vieratools" features on this set are real nice and easy to use, plus super quick.
I'm impressed.
edit: looks like the set is down to 1515 now.2-Channel: PC > Schiit Eitr > Audio Research DAC-8 > Audio Research LS-26 > Pass Labs X-250.5 > Magnepan 3.7's

Awesome! I'm going to research into these models and hopefully make a decision within a couple of weeks. I'm lost, what are d'nice's settings? d'nice is the username of a pro user of video forums who offers recommended calibration settings for panny plasmas. Prep slides, or break-in images, are images meant to age pixels evenly during your panels first 100 hours or so, so that you get optimum performance.2-Channel: PC > Schiit Eitr > Audio Research DAC-8 > Audio Research LS-26 > Pass Labs X-250.5 > Magnepan 3.7's

This almost seems to have turned into a panny discussion. On that note, does anyone know where I can get replacement 3d glasses? Or a cheap place to purchase them?

If you run his slides and use his settings, I think that the picture looks excellent. Not sure how much better it could be.AVR: Pioneer Elite SC-67

Seriously. I was blown away. I am not going to touch any of his color or gamma settings, as I would need serious calibration equipment to get any better. The only tweaks I'm making are to brightness and contrast... just to fit my room.
Slides are running at home as we speak. :biggrin:2-Channel: PC > Schiit Eitr > Audio Research DAC-8 > Audio Research LS-26 > Pass Labs X-250.5 > Magnepan 3.7's
