I really like where they're going with this. The look and the feel is totally different from the other Superman movies. Give Superman a real threat instead of the same old chunk of Kryptonite schtick.
No excuses!

Preview looks good. But don't they always. I'm sure Christopher Nolan being on board helped make it a little darker than the usual Superman popcorn movies.

I basically watch the trailer everyday. I'm a huge Superman fan and I think this might be the best Superman movie ever. I like the feel of the struggle within. The loneliness of being on this planet and being the only one of his kind. Not growing up with your parents , being adopted , etc.

On top of all that doing the right thing anyway no matter what like when he saved the kids on the bus despite having to hide who he really is. Risking himself of exposure to save others.
The music really sets the tempo and I downloaded the song.

I can't wait for this movie and I really hope it's as good or better then the trailer leads. I except the main actor as Superman as he got something. I would however would have like Tom Welling from Smallville to play the role , or done a Smallville to Superman movie , That would be extremely cool.

I am with you Mantis. I have watched this trailer so many times, and it is probably the only movie that I am really looking forward to seeing this summer.

Oh, Listen here mister. We got no way of understandin' this world. But we got as much sense of this bird flyin in the sky. Now there is a lot that bird don't know, but it don't change the fact that the world is happening to him all the same. What I am tryin to say is, is that the course of your life, well its changing, and you don't even see it- Forest Bondurant

I agree, it's going to be a little tricky to pull this off and not make it feel like a "Batman" clone. And that's a problem. You want dark, brooding, identity crisis, lonely? Well that's simply the "human condition" as philosophers reflect on it. Nothing "alien" there.

You want rejection of the "alien" superman by humans? That's ALSO the "human condition"; so in what way is there anything "new" here? A twist we have "not" seen?

Nonetheless, if it is a "good" film, that's all it need be, but, in my opinion (and I am a fan), I'm tired of all the hype on this. It's really not that hard to do "dark". I do it every day and I've done it for decades!

I'm not exactly following you here but I kinda get what you are saying.
If it's anything like Batman movies , it should be fantastic. The 3 new Batman movies IMO where probably the very best Super Hero movies of any kind I have ever seen. With that level of quality , this movie should be even better for me as I'm more of a Superman fan then a Batman fan and I'm a huge batman fan.
If you take a look at Superman , he was raised by Humans and really doesn't know any better then that other then what he learns later in life when he discovers the Fortress of Solitude. Even then he still thinks like a Human , not an Alien.

I'm personally not looking for nothing new per say , I'm looking for a fantastic modern version of a great story. That is one thing I took away from the Smallville TV show that I refused to watch , was told by friends that I was really missing out on a great story and journey , sat down and watched a few and got incredibly hooked. I was amazed how much I actually liked that show. It was to date my favorite Tv show of all time.

The Whole Dark thing I think should be focused on his personal Struggle within , "Where do I come from" like how Duncan Macleod Felt when he found out his parents where not his parents and also he was Immortal. By the way this was another one of my all time favorites. Also the rejection of Humanity of an Alien Being on Earth. In the Original Movies , this was really not a part of the Story , it seemed the world excepted him for who he was , they really didn't touch on this subject so I find it interesting to have this apart of this new story.

    I really hope it's great.

This movie is near the top of my must see summer movies. I love the fact that they're rebooting and going in a totally new direction. It has to happen or all the internet nerds will start crying that they're simply copying from the Richard Donner Superman. If I have to read one more time that "such and such actor will NEVER be Christopher Reeve" then I'm gonna punch my screen. Christopher Reeve is dead, which makes him NOT available to do any more movies. Get over it!

One aspect I like and welcome is the real world feel they're going for. How would the world ACTUALLY react to an alien like him showing up one day. If they wind up doing it any other way, then the nerds will simply cry again...they're copying Donner...Reeve is a better Superman...blah blah blah...aka, Superman Returns!!!

Casting Amy Adams as Lois Lane is great! She's hot and can bring that fire to the character that everyone wants. Everything I've seen in terms of the casting looks spot on. I have no problem with them bringing in General Zod either. Give the Kryptonite a rest please.

With Christopher Nolan attached to this as Executive Producer, I'm very hopeful this will be a big winner!
    No excuses!

I am down with the dark theme....look at the whole bus sequence. People witness him saving kids, and here Costner is questioning whether letting the kids die was the right move. Then you see his older self watching a bus drive by and he is still struggling with it. It's subtle....yet it's there. That's what made the newer batman movies so great, the struggle within.

I don't know.....look at ironman 3 , and the new superman....what looks better? Sorry just over the same old superhero movies...and I can't wait to hear Michael Shannon say "kneel to zod"

I don't know how many of you are familiar with Michael Shannon's work but I'm gonna call it now. Shannon will do for General Zod what Ledger did for The Joker. The guy's a natural when it comes to displaying character types that are on the verge of complete insanity and chaos while displaying a menacingly calm exterior through piercing eyes. Watch Shannon in "Take Shelter" or "Shotgun Stories" and you'll see what I mean. He's currently my favorite modern actor and I believe his career may explode after this film. He mostly concentrates on Indie type character study films and it is within that realm where he really shines. You know his character is holding back, but when will it hit the fan? You can read the anguish and madness on his face.
