I am looking to purchase new speakers for my home theater. (5.1 older Kenwood receiver). I was wondering what the difference is between the two series. There is nowhere to demo the speakers so I have been reading reviews. Any help would be appreciated!

with the rti's you might need an amp to help power those speakers.... the monitors would be a better fit, they would work on almost any receiver.

RTi A series are very good speakers. I have the RTiA 1 (cherry) as main and they sound awesome!!!! just read reviews. They are small speakers, but they sound way way better than those big speakers. The highs are not ear's piercing, they are very clear!. The mid-range is very detailed and the bass is way deep for it size. Close your eyes and you will swear that you are listening to way bigger speakers. The best of all is, these speakers are not "fatiguing" so you can listen to them all day long. sound and build quality is top notch!!!

"RTi A" series is the Advanced RTi series. Don't confuse 'em. Though they use the same tweeter & similar driver arays, "for best results," stay all "A" series. Do not mix 'n match 'em.

BTW: how big is your room? In a small (14X12X8) room you could start w/RTi A3s for LR maybe w/either an SVS or HSU sub. Follow w/a CSi A4 for a CC. Later add pair of FXi A4s as side/surrounds.

Bigger room? Bigger speakers! 'A5s or 'A7*/9*s for LRs & a sub; CSi A6, CC. Finish w/FXi A6s SS. Just some thoughts. Others will chime in agreement or w/better ideas.
    * depending upon receiver choice, "for best results," add 2/3 ch ex amp.

RTi's are really good IMO! External amplification really makes them come alive especially down low but they can be driven decently with a good AVR until an amp can be purchased later.
    AVR - Onkyo NR809
500gb HD for MP3 and FLAC files
Amp - Parasound 2250 - FOR SALE BTW!! PM me if interested!
    Mains - Polk RTi12 towers
    Center - CSi5
    Surround - FXiA6's
    Sub - psw505
    Movies and games - PS3
    TV - Toshiba 52" HD
