HEY GUYS,

for some unknown reason my receiver stop making any sound a couple of weeks ago. i turned off an back on and it was fine again, another day it stopped an i put it in direct mode and it sounded on again, however last friday it went mute, it does not even let sound go through to the tv via hdmi through. so i am guessing that it has something to do with the sound processor. but just in case do you guys know how to reset this kind of receiver? pio elite vsx23thx.

it is a very weird thing but it is happening and i cannot afford to change it right now.

i live in the dominican republic and it is not easy to fix electronics down here.

please advice with the reset option to see of that would help. thanks and best regards.

Your receiver is likely going into protect mode. Make sure that you do not have any shorted speaker wires (ie at the speaker and receiver binding posts).

It could be a shorted speaker. Try disconnecting all speakers and hooking up one known good speaker.

You could try unplugging it for an hour, but I doubt that will fix it. I suggest you contact Pioneer to see if they can be of help.

I also agree about it going in to protection. I would check all speaker wires. Disconnect them all visually inspect them. Then one speaker at a time check for sound.

Try resetting the HDMI board. There is a process on how to do it somewhere. VR3 did this not too long ago, may ask him.

Just a suggestion. Usually these are solid AVR's. I had a 23 myself.
