On sale for $13.98 for the next couple of days. It's 24/96 and was recorded in that format by Bob Ludwig. The reviews at Computer Audiophile were positive. I'm downloading it now and will report back once I get a listen.

    Anyone familiar with this album, either the HDTracks download or other version? Not sure if one of the files is corrupt or not, but does the first track start off with some odd computer distortion type sound?

    Played fine the first few times I listened to the album despite having the odd sound for the first 10 seconds or so of the first track, but I haven't been able to play it again since. Using J Rivers 17, as soon as the first sound comes from the speakers when starting the album the computer locks up and goes to a blue DOS screen which has error messages on it. Need to do a hard shut down and then it restarts fine. Other albums play without issue.

    The beginning of the first track (The Art of Almost) is filled with distortion.

    nwholford - Thanks for the info. I think I may be having a JRiver problem rather then an HDTracks issue, seems the computer crashes anytime I try to play a 24bit/96khz file.

    Ed - Yes, let's compare! Was thinking about having a few people over to listen at some point in the near future and that's just as good of an excuse as any. Maybe wait 'til after the New Year and see what works best for the locals...

    Great record. And I can confirm that it is indeed a genuine 24/96 recording at least from the mastering suite forward.

    Thanks for the unfo! I am listening to it now, and before I just had an MP3 copy I had downloaded from amazon for super cheap. Needless to say that compared to the MP3, the HD version is outstanding so far...definitely one of my better sounding recording and its actually by one of my favorite bands, whodathunkit.

    For the record, there wasn't anything with the download from HDTracks that caused my computer to shut down.
