HELLO, I CURRENTLY HAVE TWO VELO HGS 18'S. BUT I'M THINKING ABOUT REPLACING THEM WITH TWO JL F113'S. THE VELO'S ARE FINE( BUILD DATES 12/05 AND 01/06), BUT TO BE HONEST I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A MORE UP TO DATE SUB(S).I'M AWARE THAT THE JL'S WOULD COST ME SOME $$$. BUT IM FINE WITH THAT. SO IF ANYONE HAS ANY INPUT, I WOULD GLADLY APPRECIATE IT. OH, IM CURRENTLY RUNNING MY VELO'S IN A H.T. SYSTEM THAT CONSIST OF TWO LSIM 707'S (FRONTS) LSIM 706(CNTR) LSIM 702(SURR) YAMAHA 3020 RECEIVER. THANKS...

From what I can gather the JL's are the cat's meow of subs (opinions will certainly vary, Velo & REL come to mind). What exactly do you feel is lacking in your current setup with the Velo's? If this is just something to scratch your new gear itch then by all means go for it. But if performance is not the issue (doubtful) why not spend the money elsewhere? Your setup is dynamite to say the least. Why not take advantage of the Yammie & go to a full blown 11.2 setup. It is absolutely astonshing for BD movies!!!! Cable TV also never sounded so good.

The F113's are just as old as your Velo's. For the money you can do much better for HT. They look fantastic and sound great but not worth the asking price. For HT I'd look at an ID company like SVS, HSU, JTR or Seaton.

I HAVE TO BE HONEST. THE BIGGEST REASON FOR WANTING NEW SUBS, IS BECAUSE I HAVE THE NEW POLKS. GO FIGURE....

Is your Avr powering all those speakers? If so I personally think you'd benefit more from adding an amp to your setup than getting new subs.

Dual F113's would be Awesome! Although the SVS PB13 Ultra is very good, the F113 is better!

2 DD 18plus , stupid killer combo from Velodyne.

On a side note , I love the HGS series. Nothing wrong with them as they are crazy musical and awesome theater subs.

YES ALL OF MY SPEAKERS ARE POWERED BY THE YAMAHA. I THOUGHT ABOUT GETTING TWO VELO DD+ 18's. BUT THEY'RE $6000.00 EACH. THE JL'S ARE ABOUT $4,000.00 EACH. BEFORE I MAKE A DECISION I WOULD LIKE TO CHECK OUT THE SVS SUB.

Thats MRSP on the JL's. You should be able to get them cheaper than that. I got mine delivered to me on the east cost of canada(authorized dealer) for less than 3500 total.

Go to the AVSforum and get your read on. Plenty of shootout reviews on the top dog subs out there. If the F113's are a must let me know because I could direct you to a place that has them for $2400ish each new with a factory warranty. I'd guess after going on there and reading you'll be leaning more towards a Cap or Submersive.

JL Audio is very tough to beat. I have experience with them and they would be my choice over everything but maybe high end REL.

for that kind of money, I think you get more return if you get a big amp for your speakers. the whole Lsim set deserve better and more power than a AVR :)

+1. I'll add that you could do a very nice amp for that kind of coin, and add a sub EQ to the mix. Might just be what the doctor ordered...
